Hi, I asked this question before and have looked for answers but unable to find any. Can anyone help me.
In an attempt to install ts12 I encounter this error mesage'
An error has occurred while trying to copy file
Data error (cyclic redundancy check)

My computer is a HP Pavillion g5 series with intel core i5 and windows 7 operating system.

The problem I'm sure is with the computer but I just don't know what to try next. I have tried closing all virous programs and firewalls, tried load in different directories.

I did manage to get it loaded on to my old computer(over 6 years old and slow) with no problems

Can anybody help please, have had te program since begining of October and can't play it.

Thanks in advance
Larry

Hello
In a nut shell, what your looking at is windows will not and cannot write files (as Trainz needs to constantly) without Administrator privilege. You must and I mean MUST make sure that "YOU" are the "ADMINISTRATOR" when using the SIM.

Hi Shane, I'm no master like you but I have had this major error thing before and it was simply a matter of Windows 7 being a security freak. I used to be an XP expert (well kind of) but this new Windows7 even throws me a duff bone. lol :hehe:

I wouldn't class myself as a master, but the thing in the error message that triggered my theory was 'Data error (cyclic redundancy check)' - CRC errors are nearly always caused by corrupt files.

One of the things I've learnt from dirty discs and/or bad downloads.

Shane

P.S. Notice anything different in my signature?

Hi
It's a DVD and it did lod perfectly on my old computer whic has Vista on it but plays verrrrrrry slowly and jerky

Sometimes it's a naughty DVD, and sometimes it's a naughty DVD drive. See if you can copy the DVD to your HD and install from there.;)

TS12 does require 2 disks and administrator privileges. Go to Start>My Computer. Right-click on the disk drive containing N3V Games Trainz 12 and click "Open". Go to "setup.exe", right-click, and choose "Run as administrator". If you continue to get the error, contact Auran's help desk for support as the problem may lie in the disk itself.

Thanks everybody for our input and help. Have tried ever thing including running as administrator etc and still it persists. Will contact Auran support again for help

Thanks again
Larry

Best case scenario, they apologize and send you a digital download at no cost to you. Worst case scenario, they stubbornly uphold their "no refunds, no replace" policy. But no one's that cruel. Except maybe Republicans.

I'd second that, in my experience that's always been a bad disc. You can try cleaning it with a soft lint free rag and some rubbing alcohol.
