TS09

I'm thinking of getting TS09, but don't know if my computer is good enough to run it well. It's a 4 1/2 year old Alienware with an AMD 64 FX 55 processor, 2 gigs ddr 3200 Corsair memory, and running a new Saphire MD 3850 AGP video card. I'm aware of the limitations of AGP, however it's still a fairly powerfull computer. OS is Window XP Pro, SP 3.
Any comments?

Add another 2GB RAM will give you some headroom at reasonable cost. 32 bit OS will only report 3GB or so of this and Trainz can use up to 2GB max.

You will find TS2009 kinder to your PC than any previous version.

I take that as meaning my present machine will run TR09 better than it does TR06.
I tried 4 gig ram (brand new). It sent my poor machine absolutely cooo - coo!
Had to reformat raid HDD's and reinstall all. Put original Corsair sticks back in.
Don't know what the problem was, but guess it was either too much ram and XP got lost or
original memory was latency 2 (very good!) replacement memory was latency 2 and still caused problems.
I hunt every now and then for two 1.5 gig, latency 2 memory, but DDR 3200 is antique now.
Does anyone have any idea of what problem may have been with 4 1 gig sticks of Corsair XMS, DDR 3200, 400Mhz, CL2 memory .
Strange things happened, progams lost or wouldn't load, eventually the computer wouln't boot up!

That computer should have enough power. 2G RAM is plenty, especially with XP. I am satisfied with mine (see below). For me, TS2009 runs better than TRS2006.
I hear there is allot of not so good RAM available on the interenet.

I checked with Alienware months ago. They no longer support my model, a pre Aurora version. In general Alienware sucks, they wouldn't even help me flash my bios (original version still there). I'll never buy another Alienware product.
Corsair is a company with a pretty good name, so I trust their pruducts. The original memory sticks were Corsair DDR400 512mb PC 3200 XL x 4. The replacement sticks are Corsair DDR 400 1024mb PC 3200 XM x 4. Spec's require 2.75 bus voltage. Best I can gather, the memory bus is 3.3 v. and always has been. Power is no problem as the machine has a 525 watt psu.
I'm thinking of taking the 4 new memory sticks over to my local computer guru and see if they can check them out!
Regards
Oh yeah, still pondering buying TS09.The community seems positive on it.
