Trying to reload the program updates

I lost my hard drive and had to reload the program. I uninstalled Trainz following instructions and reloaded. I then tried to update the program with the downloads from Shane Turner. When I first entered the program after reloading the computer showed me the program was at 47772 so I started with 47772 to 48249. I keep getting a message that "This patch is not applicable to your current installation". I tried going to the next update with the same result. I then tried to recover the files that I had been backing up to a 16gb stick starting with the folder called "user Data" and the subfolders after that. I copied the Used Data etc. from the stick drive to the Railroad Simulator folder after the N3V folder. Tried to call up versions of my route but I only had the routes that came with the game and they were listed verticaly. That's new! I'm beginning to think my grandkids will never see this game.

Did you check that it's patching the right folder, as per my advice?

Also, if you are simply copying the UserData folder back into the new installation, you must run an extended database repair and turn off the favourites feature.

Thanks again Shane for your help. I did follow your earlier suggestion and copied from my backup to the folder Railroad Simulator folder. I did go back and ran the full asset check in CM. I found the autosaves for my route but only in the backup folder. When starting I only get that vertical listing of the routes that came with the game. Why vertical? How do I recover the route from the backup folder. Its getting to the point over here that everything is cheaply made. The drive that crashed was made in China. It only lasted 11 momths. Most people look to Europe for the better goods. Thanks again Deisan

Your idea worked and I have restored the route I built for my grandkids. 2 problems occurred. The rolling stock including the locos did not comeback. The strange part is that the very few that do appear are on a couple of industry sidings were they were left. The yard was empty. The frustrating part is that all the 40 ft reefers the family got exited about because they matched cars on my layout is not even on my computer or on the DS. I believe when you run the asset check it not only restores missing assets but eliminates any asset no longer on the DS. As I told my son yesterday, there is just too many problems with Trainz to turn it over to my grandsons. Don Eisan
