I have tried installing patch 49922_to_57720 twice and it hangs half way I waited 2 hours the 1st time and 3 hours this time, but the progress bar gets to half way a stops and I give up and have to re-install the game cause it wont start, anybody got any suggestions!

Also the 1st time I re-installed I lost all my content is there a way to back it up so I can have it after I re-install

I have windows 7 on a AMD Phenom II Quad core processor and Geforce GTX 550 TI Graphics card

Thanks

I think I wasted 40 bucks on this, I really liked trains 2006

I am sure that there is (or was) at least 1 or 2 files that could have been copy, and pasted, into the new Trainz re-installation.

A patch can take in excess of 8 hours, and is best done while you sleep, and possibly part of the next day.

Your antivirus should be temporarily disabled during a patch, so your PC should be left undisturbed all during the patch.

You should copy your User Data folder to a safe place as a backup, specifically the "local" and "original" subfolders, which can then be reimported after reinstalling. Patching can take hours depending on your system, the progress bar will sit at 50% for a long time. You have to leave it alone otherwise you will get the problem you just described.
