TRS22 SP5 Sound Changes

Has anyone noticed a change in how horns sound when trains approach and pass you by? I've noticed it when using RRMODS Amtrak Dash 8 during my trial runs. Could it be me turning down my settings or is something else at play? Let me know what you guys think.

Overall, the sounds are better. I thought it was just me because I don't usually have my sound up loud while driving. The other thing I noticed today is the trains sound more realistic when riding over switches.

I somewhat caught on to the sounds being more realistic rumbling over switches. That much I'll give them credit for. There's still room for improvement. I'd like for them to fix the tunnel problem. With bridges we can move them around freely. Tunnels we can only move them in increments of 5m or 10m left or right. Don't understand the logic behind them not addressing that problem. They also should disable or at the very least ask users if they want a layer rebuild when changing regions because it'll automatically add water when that's not what I want.

I believe RRMods is using Xaudio2 now for sounds which has been available to creators for a couple of years. Jointed Rail might be doing the same but I'm not sure. It is nice to see content creators using all the new tools that N3V makes available to them.

I am glad as well because the trolley sounds of the wheels crossing over points is a bit old now.

The old tunnel thing. This is because of how tunnels are made using the dig-holes to punch a hole through the terrain mesh. The same issue exists with other assets that rely on dig-holes to punch out the terrain.

The way around this is to build your own tunnels using separate dig-hole assets, tunnel splines, tunnel entrances, and your own track. The result can be quite nice if done properly. The issue is again the dig-hole due to how they clip out the mesh. Covering up the open spot with the tunnel entrance can require some creative modeling using splines, rocks or some unique tunnel entrances.

You mean like... doppler effect?
Yeah I noticed that when they added it in like 2011 lol

A more serious answer is that maybe you installed the trainz forums sound update? or some other update that mods the base game sounds? I started using that version of the default sounds around the time SP5 came out so I can't say if anything is different in vanilla, all I know is I like how my game sounds for the first time in like 16 years.
