TRS22 Platinum questions from an old user

Hello all.
I've been with Trainz since Auran owned it, and I was one of the original beta testers.
I've followed and purchased most of the versions (last one was TAINE) but took a few years break due to my work schedule. Now that I'm retired I just purchased TRS22 Platinum, and it's a huge improvement, but I'm really, really lost.
I watched some videos on Surveyor 2 and it looks exciting. I can figure it all out.

So as I was doing the (super quick) tutorial on industries, I wanted to jump in and do stuff, but where do I start?
I'm missing Industries and scripting. There used to be a chart somewhere on each industry and what its input and outputs are, but now I see that everything is custom.
What rolling stock goes with what product? Is it specialized any longer or is a box car the thing you use because it's like real life?

I just completed the driving tutorials last night. Yeah I forgot all the keys.

Looking in Surveyor at one of the industries on the Kickstarter County map called Ricochet Freight, it looks like the industry is now a track (how cool is that), rather then a building as before. Where can I find more information on setting these up. I opened the industry track's edit and looked around in the settings. It just may be something I'll have to play with.

I was a content creator back when, and for right now I'd like to relax and just play. EDIT: I just found my Cafe Shore, they kept it in. :)
Once you go down that road you don't play much any more.

Any suggestions to get me jump started please?

Take a look at multiple industry new (MIN), place it in Surveyor, and then open the properties window to set it up. They were created to be placed alongside any industry building.

Oh and welcome back.

Yes, I'm seeing that. Thank you. It's really cool that you don't need a building.

Now I understand why I cannot find a legend on what industries serve what products. Because they are totally customizable per map. OMG, this is mind blowing.
Has someone created a program to read the layout and print out the industries names and info. That would be a huge time saver. (It's the software engineer in me coming out).

Try <kuid:160293:10029> ExTrainz Manager-TANE SP2. This made by "ebertsch" back in 2014 for the URM Route I was using for Multiplayer. It was then updated for me by "trev99" in 2017. It will not only list the industries but also the products used and the cars that carry the products. If you have any questions about it, PM me.

Hi Im fairly new at this but regarding which product goes with which wagon
If you select a wagon and then select ? on the menu you will get a selection
of what can be loaded into that wagon, You then need to configure the Multiple Industry
to what you want loaded, There is a choice of quite a few tracks you can use
What you have to watch is that you don't have one wagon with more than one product
if you are using a wagon that can take multiple products at the same industry
Having one wagon loading coal at one industry say coal mine and that same wagon loading
rock somewhere else is fine
Hope this helps

I did these videos some time ago. They might help you get started:

Videos can be great but whenever you need paper based references and tutorials, with indexes and hyperlinks, on using the Surveyor 2.0 Tools and Palettes, see the Trainz Wiki pages at:-

Welcome home GaryP !

You will also find that by right clicking on a wagon you can "load" it. If I recall correctly, the very first versions of trainz required the industry or track to do this. Now you can do it any old time, and there is a button at the top of the dialogue which allows you to copy that loadout to any similiar wagons in the consist which is useful for long unit trains. It is so quick and easy that I no longer use loading tracks for the most part. Piece of cake !

This was an old system I switched to BI industry's I hated that you could only load the type of car you set.If you run multiple different box cars you have to configure EACH one when you select what to load it into.I dobn't run 20 of the exact same cars..That was the weak link in this system.

So now I'm confused. I laid some track and set up a multiple industry, and set it to take wood planks and give barrels.
First I set up a logging place with an industry that gives logs.
I can ctrl-right click on the car in Driver and tell it to load and it moves to the industry and loads it.. But first I need to ctrl-right click on the car and tell it what kinds of goods it can carry.
Is this right? It still seems like you need to 1. set up the industry get/give manufacturing, then set up the car you want to carry it.
A flat car only carries one type of product then? No!, just saw Enable Editing button. I can assign different things.

There are many types of logs etc, you need to make sure the same type (icon) is used in all the assets being used for the task.
Yes I did that. It looks like it's loading correctly. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything. I'm surprised there's not much on YouTube on this latest version. It's a niche game I guess.
