Hello,

After looking at the sys specs for TRS2010:EE, I am not sure if my gaming box would be able to run the most current ed of Trainz.

Phenom II X6 1090P Black Ed.
4GB DDR3
XP (SP3)
PNY 8600GT 512MB OC
X-Fi XtremeGamer
121GB Free on main PATA drive, 2 1TB Satas (932GB Formatted) mostly empty

Reason I ask, is that the op sys is on the min list, while the cpu is beyond the max along with the video card.

I don't know why XP would be a concern, you're probably better off with it than any other OS. Like many sims, Trainz is limite to DirectX9, so you won't benefit from any of the new features Vista or Win7 offer, and the bloat may work against you as Vista and Win7 often test slower on gaming than XP.

Plus, XP is easy to tweak and, in my observation here, seems to have fewer issues.

The rest of your hardware is fine.

Just to put you at ease, I am running 09 on a 5 year old WIN XP computer. It features a Pentium D CPU, 2GB of DDR3 ram (maxed out), and Quadro NVS (work station) GPU with 256MB of ram. This set up runs 09 extremely well, with no issues and decent FPS as long as I avoid the mega routes with a 1,000 assets. It will run them, although FPS drop dramatically and loading times increase to the point that I loose patience. Dave Snow's beautiful OZARK ROUTE would be a good example. Your system would probably run the mega routes.
