Hey all,

Just wondering, i've picked up ts2009 because i figured it would have much
improved graphics over 2006 etc.. however, i don't see much difference.
I thought perhaps i needed to download a hires routes or something like
this, but from what i've seen so far, the graphics required are just "ticklin"
my GTX 280 OC vid card.. i like looking at trains / driving them, but unfortunately graphics/realism are important for me..

any thoughs (links) to where i could download some complete hi res
routes etc..? i've not been able to find a "hi res" section in the content manager.

thanks guys

Oh they didn't tell you? The 2009 WBE is the same game engine, tweaked to allow for more realistic graphics, but they only included 4 examples of the content in game, and third party creators are supposed to make more for the future. Look for the a) tree, b) track, c) Engine (UPSD40-2) and d) station. There are also other new pieces of content on the DLS, under 2009.

If you could whip up a nice route with he aforementioned pieces of content, I'm sure you would witness the graphic improvements!:)

Vinnybarb has a couple of scenery items, KUID2: 184151:9309:1 etc. I have one wagon KUID2: 86627:2362:1 and that's about it for the moment for items that use normal mapping.

Nowhere. That game is BS and so is TRS 2006. I wont be paying anymore money for their games. I waiting for MSTS 2 to come out here in the US.

Good bye, I do hope you enjoy your wait.

Note to diesel7108, Whitepass has just released a very nice flatcar with normal mapping on Trainz pro routes, it will probably appear on the DLS when Auran sort out the uploading problems.

In case you didn't know MSTS2 is no longer a viable alternative.

MSTS2 was cancelled as soon as Microsoft fired the team that was making MSTS2. The game was in its final stage, but Microsoft had to cut jobs. So, you can get Kuju Rail Simulator (which is awful) or Trainz (the best simulator you could get).

Have some mercy on RailSim, where the heck else do you think Trainz' new SD40 came from?
Aww now you see the strategy of marketing, sales and business.
Auran improved the Trainz franchise because RailSim came out with better graphics.
Sure RailSim doesn't have near enough US stuff, needs better sessions, etc.
But it did stun me.
I like RailSim, I also like Trainz.
Point being I like Trains so whenever a Sim comes out, I'm ready to grab it!

This is for illinoiscentral, since you must know, I have been messing with this game for like 2 years and I have gotten a lot done in my game! Everything is always broken when I download stuff from the internet and I have to fix it and when I ask for help on this forum, no one helps me! But, when a negative comment is made, everyone responds to it. I was asking for help with my WOT locomotives (also another place I won't buy from again, because Phil didn't help me when I asked for it) and when I was asking for the where abouts of Nathan k5hll hornsound.

No...so far, not everyone....but while you're waiting for MSTSII to show up, you can hang here until everyone does respond....your wait will be about the same...

Hello Xero
While I am not really concerned if you decide not to purchase from me again, I am concerned that a) A customer is not happy and b) A customer is stating things about me that are untrue.

To rectify the first issue I believe as stated in two of the three different threads you started on WOT that the issue is possibly caused by a bug in TRS. A bug that I cannot solve remotely if at all. In one thread you were asked for the Jetlog.txt so I can attempt to identify the cause of the issue with no scripted features working. Then you started three support tickets each of which received a reply by a member of WOT's staff. I will admit that I did not follow up the tickets after you replied. I will rectify that now.

Therefore the statement that "Phil didn't help me when I asked for it" is untrue as I attempted to help out with each question you asked. I am guilty of not following it up but I currently have very little time to spend on Trainz and occasionally a ticket or forum thread will be missed or forgotten about especially if I am waiting for the person to supply more information.

I get a lot of Tickets on WOT that have nothing to do with my products but I still feel obligated to help them out as well.

Regards

Phil

If its the DLS you are referring to then either you are extremely unlucky when downloading or you are generalising about broken content on the DLS. Many items on the DLS actually work exactly as they are downloaded. TRS2009 may flag some warnings and errors but it still runs the items.

If you are downloading from other sites be aware that they do not have the same error checking as the DLS and that a number of sites have items that are not the latest version. This is particularly true of sites that host content without the content creators permission.

Trainz is moderately complex and rewards taking a logical approach. You need to be very specific about the problem then you will get assistance. I note from your previous posts that you do get some satisfaction from Trainz when it runs smoothly. Be aware that many of the bugs in TRS2006 have been fixed in TRS2009. TRS2009 code is still being updated as I write, details in Trainzdev.

I've had problems with payware not meeting my expectations however Phil_c's payware is of a very high quality and the vast majority of his customers are very satisfied.

I'd suggest working through the problems rather than labeling everything as rubbish not so much to get the items to work but to pick up the life skill of working with others, resolving problems and looking a little deeper than the surface to find and resolve the underlying problems.
