TRS04/06 era track...

Now T:ANE I can get into
What were some of the best looking, yet not performance-killing older tracks?

I've been using MP Wood, and was wondering if anyone had any other recommendations.

I started a thread on TRS2006 track ... I bet I have tested 200-500 tracks over the years.
I use Philskene's - MP Track Wood V2, and also the MP Rusty, and MP Tunneltrack Dark, as well as Transition Track (shiney to rusty)
HP Trainz does not have the above tracks anymore, some are on the DLS.
I tested the Greenery tracks (possibly website is gone) , and they kinda kink in turnouts, as do 90% of the higher detail tracks out there kink.
I like the RTS (Romanian Trainz Studio) (which also is a dead link to unavailable track): Sine CFR v2.0 (over 25 types of track).
As I said: Quite alot of tracks kink in turnouts.

For my East Broad Top RR NG route I use the equivelent of 36" track (1000mm)
Via estrecha tm 1000 mm 2 mts <KUID:148561:38004>
I am presently testing: Via Madera Creosotada <KUID:185037:101016>
As well as several track by: avez :

ramsay72 has 9: Koleje tracks that look pretty rugged and dirty

Hop on Free Skype Instant Messenger, and I might remember more of them.

Koleje 1 drevo (by ramsay72) is a great low poly (lower detail) track ... but 2 ties in the image, makes your eyes go wacky, as the 2 ties shadows are reversed from the rest of the ties.

The Right track has been edited so that the tie shadows are all on the same side

The Bottom track has been edited, as well as adding a thin black stripe to the base of the rail
