TRS 2006 won't start

I'm sure this has probably been asked many times on here but I cant seem to find the answer to my problem.

My 11y.o has TRS 2006 and we ran this on our old XP PC. We have since changed to a brand new Packard Bell Media X2416 running Vista and I cant get TRS 2006 to run. The game appears to load ans when I go to start the game from the Welcome screen it looks like its starting , the DVD drive starts up, but then nothing happens and I return to my desktop. I have tried to run as administrator but this hasn't changed anything.

Any suggestions gratefully accepted to appease a not so happy 11 y.o.

Lot's of threads here about Vista and Trainz, I know that CMP requires a well working OpenGL installation, and that some new PC's don't have OpenGL loaded out of the box; you may want to look into that.

Thanks for your replies but unfortunately I'm still struggling.
I've changed the compatability mode without success. I have all the latest drivers for my video card and have directx 10 loaded.

I have tried the -intro = disable that someone previously has suggested but I cannot edit the notepad file for some reason, so this wont work either.

How do I change the display to use Direct X instead of opengl as has been suggested.

I've also trawled the forums and still cannot find the answer.:(

This probably has to do with the permissions in Vista. Is the file checked as "read only"? Are you able to change that, and have it stick?

Trainz and Notepad probably need to be run in Administrator mode. I think this is because unlike most other software Trainz stores its data files in its program files folder which by default Vista protects as it's inside C:\Program Files.
