Trouble loading the game

I've had trainz simulator 2006 since August of last year, and until recently I had not had any problems with it, but for the past couple of days. I've had trouble opening my content manager, it says that it is rebuilding a list, or it won't even open it will say that Trainz has not been detected you need to run it atleast once before opening this. But when I go to open it after recieving that message it freezes and I have to close the game down before it opens up
