Triggers

Hello, I was wondering if some-one can help me. I want to know how to program triggers to create a specific type of train and location for the train to appear. Thank-you:)

As I understand it, you can only get a train on a route in one of two ways, at the beginning, from surveyor, or from a portal. If I were to try to do what I understand you want, I'd add a portal somewhere on the route, then add invisible track to the location where you have the trigger, then move the train on invisible track to the trigger location. To avoid scenic interruption from those who might be watching where the invisible track is located, use the "apply vertex height" tool to set the invisible track below scenery level, and rise to visible level in the location of the trigger.

I'm still very much a baby when it comes to learning triggers, but where I find them useful is using AI trains with the "Wait Until Trigger" command at stations with passing loops. If you don't do this, the other train has the annoying habit of pulling right down to the signal at the end of the loop and waiting with its back end in the platform - highly unrealistic.

To tell it to "Wait until trigger" and punch in the details of my train hitting the trigger at the other platform, followed by a "Wait For 30 seconds" command makes for a much more realistic experience.

I do want to understand triggers a lot more because I know there are all sorts of things you can do with them! Having the time - if only!
