Trigger check rule in lieu of Wait for Trigger

Can someone explain for me how I can use the "trigger check" rule in lieu of the "wait for trigger" command. Someone did explain this some time ago but I had trouble getting it to work. Maybe I misunderstood something in my old age. I do know how to use child rules etc. as I use these to trigger the weather. Many thanks. Norm.

The Wait for Trigger driver command forces a driver/consist to wait for a specific trigger to be activated before it can then continue (or start) its list of driver commands

The Trigger Check rule waits for a specific trigger to be activated (you can optionally specify the driver, loco, consist item that activates the trigger) before a set sequence of events is activated. These events can vary enormously and can include popup messages appearing (or disappearing), switches and/or signals being changed, navigation points being activated (or deleted), etc.
