Trees moving to fast.

Is there a way to turn off the tree animation? They look like a storm is passing through. Or maybe slow them down. This can't be good for frame rates can it?

Thanks
Jim

I would like to do that to, because they move way to fast, at some points it looks like a tornado comes by, would be nice to have an option to turn it on or off or adjust the speed of the animation.

There's no way to turn off the animation, and it doesn't affect frame rate.

Delete all the treez - or replace then with "jankvis" ones????

But seriously Chris - there must be some versions of Trees included that are not animated or at least not AS animated as the OP suggests? (I'm waiting for the DVD release so I can't check this myself at the moment).

Yes please give us an option to sort out these ridiculous unrealistic trees.

Every branch moves in different directions and it's like a tornado is blowing full strength all the time.

What were they thinking????

There's really no way to slow them down?
Damn, that's ridiculous.
"What were they thinking?" says it all mate.

I'm afraid that has to be strike 1.

Smiley.

As Chris has said there is no way for the end user to control the animation. It is set within the Speedtree Modeler that Auran is using to create them. Given the fact that I'm not sure there was anyone at Auran that had experience with the program before being asked to create dozens of trees it is pretty remarkable they may it in on such a tight deadline. Then again the issue may not be with the models but with the C++ classes that allow the game engine to use them. Either way I'm sure they will get sorted out by SP1 if not before.

What happens if you delete the .kin file, or are speedtrees done differently

I also thought there was a line that could be added to the config file that ajusts animation speed, can't get to the Dev wiki at the moment.

It appears that they are nothing like normal assets. The mesh has a .srt extension and there is a custom-render-plugin listed in the config.txt. It is my understanding from reading at www.speedtree.com that the game developer adds custom C++ classes for the game engine to call to display the trees.

There is no .kin file just the mesh and the texture files.

I haven't the items or time to check but I read someone posted that the Speedtree items use the same kuids as the ones in the Treez pack. Can Treez be installed on top of TS2010 replacing the Speedtree items if someone wishes?
