Trees missing leaves

Hello, I recently had this issue where I was building my route and all of s sudden, the trees leaves disappeared leaving nothing but the leaves. The shadows are still cast as if there was leaves. Also when I zoom out a bit, the leaves start showing again but when i zoom in decently close, they vanish leaving just the trunk and making it look hideous. I have this issue on all my trees on very route I have and I am mostly using speedtrees but some other trees are also affected. Can anybody please help me fix this issues?

It sounds like winter to me, but why are the leaves there in the distance though.

You can test this by editing the environment and changing the calendar to June. If all the trees turn green, then it's winter.

By the shadows, those look like conifers, so season should not matter.
This makes me wonder if it IS the graphics settings. RMM trees look bald when viewed from the cab in driver but look okay when viewed in Surveyor.

Increasing the tree resolution settings helps, but that can really hurt performance.

Disappearing detail at close range may be related to a post-processing setting of Ultra. You could try setting it to High and see if that makes an improvement.

I thought thats what the issue was so I set my date to may but nothing happened. This also just happens on every single route for me.

Winter time on your route?, what is the kuid of the trees
Its like every speedtree for me but here some of the ones I used commonly which are not working: kuid2:211025:21042:2 , kuid2:211025:1042:2 , kuid2:211025:21355:1 , kuid2:211025:21127:1 , kuid2:211025:21007:1 . Also this problem seems to affect every tree I have EXCEPT plantfactory trees which are normal. Even the M: (URST) trees have the same issues with the leaves.

The Plant Factory trees I use do not have a 4 season cycle (though they change color in the Fall months). I found this out when I set my route to December and all all of the trees went back to Summer green colors. The ones I used to use had full season (green, fall colors, bare branches in Winter), but they were so poorly optimized that it would cause major FPS drops for me. Draw distance in both the main settings and in the route settings doesn't matter. LODs (level of detail) may not be present in the trees you are using. If they are it may be set really low.

Also at full distance (22,000 in the main settings and disabled in the route) PF trees now won't load until I am extremely close Fly a couple of inches away and they look like butt.. Perhaps the recent patch nerfed them, but I just replaced the offending trees with others I have.

When I used to play LSPD:FD (the police mod for GTAV), some police cars would disappear (as they drove off) and only the police men would be visible. The fix was setting a graduated LOD (100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 500), but in Trainz being what it is, high LODs can cause more problem in FPS.

If your issues are caused by meshes, then I'd remove those trees and find something else. Sucks I know, but appearance is everything to route builders. I've made many compromises as a route builder because I am a bit nuts with perfection, and flaw is unacceptable so I find replacements then use them.

This can happen with some other types of assets that were poorly made (many are very recent), but again Trainz is not doing things under the hood as it probably should.

If the issues are caused by meshes is there any way to fix it? ive played around with all the date settings and post processing settings and the problem still persists so Im guessing it has to be mesh. Or should I just cut my losses and replace everything with working PF trees. I just dont understand however 3d tree I have besides PF trees just have no leaves anymore.

They have been in use since 2017 without anyone that I know of observing such faults. I just checked one of them in T:ANE Surveyor and Driver and even at a tree detail setting of LOW, it was fine at any view distance.

In the CM asset preview I can see that the lowest LOD of these trees has a polygon count of 4 triangles, which means it's probably 2 billboard-style planes, not a tree trunk. So I don't think what you're seeing is an LOD issue.

The fact that the fault happened suddenly and that trees from other creators and non-speedtree types are also affected may indicate that something in your computer suddenly broke. I'm far from an expert in that field, but intuitively I would guess it's associated with the graphics card. Beyond that speculation, I don't know what to suggest.

That is beyond my wheelhouse. I'm sure they are way smarter people that I who know how to fix meshes.
