Senator Frank Lautenberg of New Jersey passed away last week. He was a champion of mass transit, not only in New Jersey, where his career started during the early years of New Jersey Transit, but throughout the entire Northeast Corridor. Additionally, he was the last surviving WWII veteran in the US Senate. NJT's Secaucus Junction complex was named after him.
