Transfering files from one computer to another delimma.

Good evening all.

I have posted this to another forum with plenty of looks but no replies. Hopefully you can clear the way for me.

I save my sessions on CDP and place it on a memory stick. I then load the information onto my lap top to work on the program while away from the house. I then save that and feed it to my home computer and so on.

My dilemma is this. Every time I add new assets and save the game, it does not transfer the new assets to the computer I am feeding. It does save everything else, but not the new assets. What am I doing wrong?

Thank You
Pieter

Hi Pieter,

This is due to the CDP of your route is just that. Your route. You need to have a copy of all your assets on both your PC and your laptop. There are many ways to do this. You can copy your complete desktop PC install it on your laptop and then periodically update the laptop location.

The alternative is to archive your route this will create a .CPA file and this will include all your assets you have on your desktop version, but not necessarily those on your laptop. The problem with the .CPAs is they have a size-limit of 2GB and if you have a lot of stuff, you won't be able to open the archive.

When I transfer stuff between my desktop and laptop, I use the first method. I plan ahead of time and do the overnight copy. When I'm done I can then transfer the route CDP back into the desktop without worry that there will be missing content.

Thanks John

OK I will record all the assets that I download and get them again to put on other computer. Not a big deal, but good to know.

Thanks again John
