Transdem dem error

Hi All,
i recently bought transdem, and it seems every dem map i download and try to use in transdem i get an error that says error reading DEM, how can i fix this so i can make a map? thank you

Hello,

If the downloaded dem-files are not useable, you can always create the dem-files using Transdem.

How?

Go to this link : http://dds.cr.usgs.gov/srtm/version2_1/SRTM3/North_America/

download the zipped hgt files for the area that you want.

Unzip the file - you will find a file.hgt

Open transdem and click on - open dem - select the hgt file and transdem will open it. Saved it as a dem file. ( for ex 80N40W

When all hgt files are transformed into a dem-file, you can create a dem file for the complete area.

How ? In transdem : Open the first dem file ( for ex 80N40W ) and now click on add dem ( for ex 81N40W ).

Trandem will merge the 2 dem - file into 1 larger dem-file. When this job is done - save the file as ( for ex 81N40W_80N40W.dem ).

thanks for the help kurt, i figured it out last night though i found the tutorial
