Trainz Won't Start

I'm getting this error right after the Trainz start screen. It's happened to me before and it was a simple fix but I can't remember for the life of me what it was. The game was working just fine a week ago. I was trying to remember anything that has been installed or changed in a week but I can't recall a thing. I have tried both display settings with no luck.

Any ideas greatly appreciated!

Try switching from OpenGL > DirectX or vice versa in the Options section on the launcher. If that doesn't work, have a fiddle with all the performance settings

Nope. Not it. The game has worked flawlessly for over 4 years on the same machine. But now nothing. Something's changed.

Did you try turning it off and on again?

I must say, it happened to me a few weeks ago and I was informed of that what I just suggested to you, and it worked

The only things you could fiddle with from the options bar is:

Changing from DirectX to OpenGL (Or vice versa)
Changing the Display Resolution
Changing the Bit Depth
Changing the Antialias Mode

That's all I can think of, I'm afraid

Thanks guys for the help. Unfortunately I bet there is a long list of things that could produce this error but I have it working now.

The only thing I noticed being installed in the last couple of weeks was a firefox update. I did a system restore back three weeks and Trainz started launching but... got an odd error when trying to launch firefox. XMCOM data error or something close like that. Anyway reinstalled firefox and everyone seems to playing well together again.

Hope this might help anyone else with a similar issue. Try uninstalling Firefox for testing.

Had that some times, too.
On my end, restarting my system works most of the times.
If NOT, go to the settings and set them to "default" and work your way up again.

I get that when the trainz graphics resolution doesn't match the computer GPU resolution, click options and fixing the trainz resolution will fix it.

I have the error. My DirectX refuses to work even though its up to date. And my game will only play when fullscreen is unchecked. It worked properly before and not to mention my game flashes making things invisible along with the HUD. There is nothing wrong with my pc. My game is patched at 49922 and it refuses to update any higher but maybe my graphics card is going out. I dont know.

Even though your directX is up to date you still need directX 9 See Shane Turners directX install instructions.
