Trainz vs. MSTS. Which is better?

oh boy...

time to save the thread

lgpp30660+superhero-stan...

yes, collins, i know what answer i will get. but some have said MSTS here.

Lol..

But as I've said before, there are pros and cons to BOTH sims. Neither is better than the other. If you want a user-friendly program, go with Trainz. If you want ultimate realism, go with MSTS.

The only problem with KRS is that it seems like people are a little "timid" to dive in and sort things out. Most people just remain with the previous sims.

I would say Trainz is best. MSTS delivers good driving experience, but Trainz has a more reliable support for scripts, so you can make the driving experience on Trainz even better.

:D

What a thought provoking question....surprised nobody thought of it before. Maybe Tony should use this as one of his polls.....

not really this question is an old one, those that have been around previous to the old forum crash (R.I.P) will remember.

The question is how Trainz09 will compare with MSTS2. Until those programs are released and evaluated, nobody knows the answer.

However, even at this early stage we do know that any judgement of MSTS2 should not be based on that of MSTS1, as the new product will be fundamentally totally different.

If we take into account that MSTS2 will be using the FSX graphic engine the real challenge for the Trainz developers will be on the visual site. Trainz have 8 years now and with that comes a lot of experience. Early on Feb. 2008 the MSTS2 had the basic physics down right according to them. Yet I saw a video of that same day of a loco backing up to couple with a few cars and boy they were going fast on that one. On TRS you are likely to break the coupler if you leave the coupler rule in place.

The second thing to consider on MSTS2 is the massive add campaign from microsoft and some commercial partners that will for sure be releasing content for it like (dare I to say) BSI and others. I don't know the financials of Auran PTY, but to survive 8 years with a product that have barely seen any adds at least on this side of the globe is really a testament of the fidelity of many to a hard working team that have , with all their capabilities, tried to bring to the consumer pc a great train simulation over the years.

I did not got try that other sim from Koju, but the first comments I heard were not that good.

I for sure will take a look at MSTS2 when it comes out, but I'm sticking with TRS for the ride, this have been a great adventure and it is not over yet!

cheers

Give Rail Simulator a try and "dare to compare".
I have the beta of TrainZ2009 and the graphics are rpca, crpa euh,
you get the picture ? :hehe:

The content is not new in the beta (I guess).
Not got for a first impression.

For now: KRS is as real as it gets;)

As a railroader who has tried them both, TRS and KRS. I can tell you from a realistic stand point, TRS wins hands down.
