Trainz videos

The programme most people use is FRAPS http://www.fraps.com/ only prob is it records 10 minute clips but that's the maximum you can put on YouTube anyway. When you have recorded it you need a Converter to make it into a suitable format.I use RealPlayer Converter and turn it into RealPlayer H.264. I tried about 6 other converters before this one and they all had a weird red/yellow/blue effect or didn't look realistic- kinda fuzzy.

Holy crud!:udrool: Dude, I love you. I have been trying again and again to get Fraps videos to work in my video editor (Video Pad), but it couldnt read the defualt file. I never thought to use RealPlayer. Thank you thank you!!

I should have a video by the end of the day.

Youtube's limit is now 15 mintues

Sweeeet:cool:

you're welcome. More specifically when you click to Convert in RP Converter I select "RP H264 for Non Apple Devices". You can select a variety of picture resolutions and stereo qualities but these come at a price. If you click on "Details" and select "Automatic" your 10 minute video will take about 20 minutes to convert and a similar Upload time.If however you select maximum resolution and stereo quality the 10 minute video will take about ONE HOUR to upload!
I've had a bit of a problem that sometimes when I start recording a video it will "stutter" - the screen will freeze and the loco sound will just repeat in a loop. The way round this is to hit "backspace" to stop recording as soon as the stuttering stops, then hit the same same key immediately to start recording. That means you'll just have a short bit of film of the loco stuttering which you can delete.

I'm busy uploading a video of a run behind Metrovick Co-Bo D5701 from Skipton to Carlisle in TC3 and this is the first bit. I've recently upgraded my GPU's from 2 x Gigabyte 6800GT 256MB to 2x Nvidia 8800GT 512MB and I think there is definitely an improvement in performance.

One other tip I would say is - Always have a "dry run" (not recording) before you actually record your run because it helps you to notice details which are going to look really silly on your video! On one part of this run I actually uploaded it and only then did I notice that a group of trees was floating in the air! :hehe:
I must have been in Surveyor , moved them out of the way and forgot to move them back. I thought it was a good idea to pan around in the cab because the Co-Bo's had an unusual cab layout and the sole survivor (D5705) is a long way off being restored.

Riding the Virtual Rails: A short (2:45) video made in Auran's Trainz Simulator 2009 (using Fraps), featuring Ben Neal's amazing model of the Virginian Railway's 2-8-8-2 Mallet steam locomotive #703 operating on an awesome Trainz route, the Western Maryland Thomas Sub, created by jrfolco. Video is available in HD (720p), w/stereo sound @ YouTube.

I have been working on making my videos extra sharp and clear. Here is my latest attempt. Best viewed at 1080 and full screen. The music is from Blizzards Starcraft 2
