Fraps is a popular choice although for some like me, it refuses to capture sound.

Actually I already use Fraps. I need an editing program to put together the movies from Fraps clips. I had used Windows Movie Maker for a while but it suddenly just quit on me.

I use Fraps to capture the raw footage (purchased version because I hate that crap at the top of the screen). I then use Sony Movie Studio Platinum 9 to process the raw video into the movie. Sony Vegas Pro 9 will work also but it is much more expensive.

The have a new version out now (Movie Studio 10 Platinum). On Amazon, it is cheaper than 9.

I needed a place to make good promotional screenshots of my different items. The result is the Demostadt layout depicting a fictional Swiss town in the foothills of the Alps and this little video depicts a drivethrough as seen from the cab of an SBB Re 6/6 heavy freight locomotive.
