Hi,
ever since i updated my trainz 2006 to sp1 i've been getting a really annoying buzzing sound quite frequently, it usually does it when moving around in surveyor or driver or entering a tunnel in driver, it also does it continuously when I minimize trainz.
has anybody had this problem before or know what might be causing it?
the only thing I can think of is that my sound card is buggered but it doesn't do it on any other programs or games
Thanks

Hi Rob,

Have you tried updating the drivers for your sound card? It could be a bad connection too. Check your cables in the back. I had a weird thing like that happen to me where the problem only occured when I was doing certain thing, but not others. It took the longest time to figure out what was going on!

Welcome to the Trainz forums, and to Trainz, by the way!

John

yeah, my sound cards that old they haven't updated the drivers for it in years, all the connections are fine, it worked perfectly literally until I updated it to SP1

Over the last couple of days my computer broke, so I opened it up, fixed it, put it back together and tried to run trainz (which runs fine, just abit slow on my ancient machine) but the sound problem has gotten worse, now its just a continuous buzz with no actual trainz sounds coming through.
I made sure that the connection for my speakers was in properly when plugging the PC back in and have since double checked it.
Does anybody know what it could be? sound card broken?
Thanks
Rob

It might be the speakers. They could have blown. Try plugging them into your ipod or something that has a headphone jack and see if you get the same buzz.

Hi: The only thing that I can think about, is try to uninstall-reinstall..It sounds like to me it could be bad download..

Bob Cass:) :)

As I recall, TRS2006 had sound issues. there were ways to minimize them. Try a post to the TRS2006 section. Also try the search funtion.

My memory has kicked in:

I suggest you set the sound aceleration to zero and see if that works. If it does, increase it untill if fails and then back off a click.
If you have a computer using an AGP or maybe PCIe graphics board slot, reducing the video card "latency" to 64 might help. Do a "search" of this forum for "latency" for details. It could also reduce jerkyness.
For the utility needed, go here:

Aparently it only works with XP.

SP1 was a compromise. It fixed many things and at the same time worsen a few others. Sound got worse.

Try backing of a notch or two on the hardware acceleration for the soundcard. This has worked for some people - not all. It depends on the combination of hardware in a given computer.
