Trainz sound files in a DCC Decoder?

I'm looking to convert some HO Locomotives to DCC, and want to put an excellent sound file in them, but I'm pretty unsatisfied with some of the examples I've seen and listened to. As I was taking the K&L Berkshire out for a spin and listening to the exhaust I thought,

"Why can't I take the sounds from Trainz and put it into a decoder?"

Am I an idiot, or could I be onto something? I'd love to hear some feedback from the community.

It depends on what file formats your DCC programmer supports. Trainz sound files are industry standard - if your DCC programmer supports uploading sound files then it is very likely that the Trainz files are either already compatible or can be converted to be compatible.

If you can transfer sound files to your DCC then it can be done. You'll probably need a program like soundforge as sampling rate may need to be changed, among other properties.
