Trainz Plus-123794 & Trainz Plus Beta-126195 Freeze Issue

Hello,

I've been recently receiving an issue regarding my game freezing randomly after about 10-15 minutes. It happens in both surveyors and driver mode. I've had several routes without HD terrain which I haven't had this problem happen on before. I now have been working on a 30 mile route with HD Terrain and began having this issue. I also have a smaller 5 mile route with HD Terrain and I found I'm having the same issue with it. Looking at the game in task manager, it continues to work at something and the memory is constantly changing. However, the actual game itself just stops. It's equivalent to the game freezing for a second to load something. You can hear all of the sounds (it plays just as the game is running fine) and even right click in your chase camera only to watch your mouse curser disappear almost as if it was moving your camera around. I've sat here for 30 minutes waiting for the game to snap out of it and it never does. This all started while using Trainz Plus on build 123794. I decided to try and upgrade to the beta version with build 126195 and it still continues everywhere. My next hope is to reinstall Trainz completely, and posting this here is my last resort.

Any and all help is appreciated,
Thank you

Increase your virtual memory if you can't add more RAM. It sounds to me as though your machine is running out of resources.

Still send in a bug report though using the link provided. There may be some optimization or some other things that need to be done if the issue isn't related to resources.

I've had this issue as well.
I haven't experienced it "yet". That doesn't mean it won't appear out of nowhere.

I've had pauses with consists coming out of portals but that has occurred in previous versions and I've attributed that to some of the ancient rail cars I have on the consists that need replacing someday. The pauses aren't anything like what's been described though.

I've had this issue too, running at 32 gigs of ram and 12 gigs of GPU ram so my PC is no slouch, only on my big routes though.
I've reported it the N3v team through one of the members. plus my big routes wont save.

I haven't had the save issue, yet. My system is no slouch either. 64 GB RAM, RTX3080 and an i9-13900K. I'll test for pauses when I get around to Trainzing. I've been too busy with boring real-life stuff.

Use that form to report issues, otherwise, they seem to vanish into thin air as if no one ever heard of the problem even if you tell a team member. I've been there and done that before and learned the hard way.

I haven't had a problem with it saving, it seems to save fine for me, and with this freeze issue I try to save a bit more frequently...

i get this, and yes my HD has plenty of space

I just reported a bug. When selecting spline points on catenary that's placed over track spline points, the following message appears in Classic Surveyor. I'm using catenary on this route but this same message would appear for any kind of spline whose points intersect track spline points.

I haven't seen that one yet.

Is this using HD terrain or regular terrain?

Just for kicks, try a database repair and then try again.
yep, did that already. didn't help. a regular and an extended. and yes only on my big HD terrain maps, like my EL route which is about 60 miles of trackage

I wonder if it's an HD terrain issue. I don't use that and have no issues. Report that issue using the form.

It could be that the program is running out of resources from its own memory pool that keeps track of stuff the program does and uses. You could have plenty of RAM but that doesn't count.

Do you have a regular terrain route you can try?

I have a very large route I've worked on for nearly 20 years that doesn't have that issue at all.

Hello!

@JCitron If you remember many months ago I sent you a message about this, exactly the issue @CSXT10 is presenting above. The fix for me guys was simply, after many months of working by trial and error, to remove hd terrain. There was not any freeze after this, the game running smoother than ever. There is a waste of time to remove objects that may cause this, to search for any alternative. The virtual memory may be a good try, however i think this is an issue regarding the rendering of HD terrain.

Hope this solves it!

Best,
Fineas

Watch the video I linked to in the parts and Labour forum. It appears the 13900K and 14900K are having many random issues in a not small percentage of chips. It looks like some bad cpus got through quality control.

Interesting... I'll go watch the video.

I must be one of the lucky ones then because I have both CPUs on my desktop and laptop, respectively.
