Trainz Installation

Before I go to all the trouble of (trying) to install Trainz 2006 on my laptop I have a question. Can I install Trainz on 2 computers, my laptop and desktop and still have the same access to all the Trainz features, mainly the DLS? They both run off the same internet connection except my desktop for some reason doesn't always connect or stays connected. When I first installed it on my desktop it worked fine, but as usual it dropped the connection after a few minutes. I very rarely have a problem with the laptop though. The same question also applies to the First Class Ticket when I order it next week.

Another question just arose. Is it true 2006 is not supported in the DLS? In other words would I be wasting money if I bought a First Class Ticket thinking there are assets compatible with 2006 in the DLS? I have been away from Trainz for around 5 years and have just now broke out my 2006 again to play around in Surveyor. It would be nice if there were assets to be had other than the built in assets. As in the DLS or elsewhere.

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Yes you can install on two machines, but both can not sign on at the same time. You can also install two or more times on the same machine in different folders.

Regarding to DLS access be aware that you need a FCT for every version older then ts2009, if I'm not mistaken.

As for actual content for trs2006, I would think everything with build 2.6 or below should be available, but I can't be sure since I haven't had trs2006 installed since ts2010 hit the shelves.

Alternatively you need a later version which is still supported such as 2010 and 2012 - probably 2009 as well but I'm not sure since I don't use it.

Hi Old Timer,

A few things to remember.

When you install TRS2006 do not run it before patching it to SP1. See the sticky in the TRS2006 forum for the steps to follow when patching.

If you are running under an OS newer than XP you should run TRS2006 as administrator.

There is still plenty of good stuff on the DLS so a first class ticket is a good investment.

You can install TRS2006, TS09, 10, 12 all on one PC, or on multiple PC's (but it bettter have a big disk space hard drive).

I use TRS2006 because it runs on low end PC's, and surveyor has no layers, and it is extremely easy to create routes in.

Unsupport means that you can not upload your creations to the DLS.

You can download if you have a FCT (the best value is a 1 year FCT, and costs @ 0.06 cents per day) ... possibly the lifetime of the company N3V.

Higher versions of Trainz beat the pants off of TRS2006, but may require a better quality PC.

Message me on free Skype, about TRS2006 ... I love it !
