Trainz in 3D

Please give me more information about this process...it sounds really interesting...how does it work ? basically ?

It looks like it uses the old-fashioned colored-glasses and a special driver from NVidia. It requires that you edit the registry to add in support for the 3D-hardware which isn't available on all cards.

This is intersting, but for me it's useless because I have double-vision and I still see two seperate images even with corrected glasses and the stereo-optic glasses.

useless for me too. Being blind in 1 eye has always spoilt the 3D magic:p

great post though, may help someone!

It's an Nvidia feature that allows certain games to be viewed in 3D with 3D glasses. you can choose what kind of glasses you want to use. Once it it in, you can turn it on and off with ctrl+T, change the depth with ctrl+f3 and ctrl+f4, and a few other features me and my brother haven't explored yet. if this isn't exactly the information you needed, sorry. Just ask specifically what you want to know.

....the $300 3d view....

 There is a chip in the glasses.....

You have to have the graphics card to support the effort....

I'm sincerely not sure about it however go to the GeForce website....

Trainz is not listed on the possible games but I don't know...

I started using them with Trainz 2004. Works fine.

Only works with GForce cards that I know of. Just download the stereo drivers...71.89 I think from the Nvidia sight. Get a cheap pair of anaglyphic glasses and you are good to go. You can toggle the 3D on and off using a hot key button.
The ones I have have cheap cardboard frames and got them for about a dollar a piece off the internet. No plug in needed.

It's pretty neat in tight spots like going through tunnels or under overpasses. The cab especially looks cool. The only downside is a slight drop in frame rates.

There is a 3D illusion which you can use for Trainz - I've been experimenting and it's not too bad.

You need a pair of 3D ChromaDepth glasses, which are quite cheap on ebay. For Computer/TV use, the HD version are better.

The ChromaDepth effect works by the lenses sorting out the colour spectrum and bringing those closest to reds to the foreground and pushing those closest to violets away to the background - hence why I describe it as an illusion.

You might be disappointed if you fork out loads of money for the NVidia Shutter Glasses, or edimensional ones as the game has to support the shutter effect - hence why the YouTube images are blurry (they are actually two images superimposed and slightly offset to produce the stereoscopic effect when 3D Anaglyph or 3D Shutter glasses are used.) ATI graphics cards do not support the shutter effect, neither do LCD or Plasma monitors (you have to go back to CRT displays).

If you're interested in Chroma Depth, then have a look at these web-sites:

and the exciting bit is that Chroma Depth specifically lends itself to OpenGL!
