:hehe: its pretty standard practice though out the world for railfans to be called foamers, nothing is gonna change it, no use getting bent out of shape about it, you should wear the badge with pride.
Cheers
Lots

Actually a foamer is someone who's an extreme railfann who is a trespasser and can do illegal and dangerous things to get the perfect view, photo, or video of a certain train. And torchuring all those who call us that or mention the name will certain cause change.

Some of us just have the ability to embrace and enjoy more generas then others. Flight sim, Ship sim, Farm sim, mmo's, shooters, etc. Bottom line is we are all gamers and thanks to many of these products which supply tools, we can create, share, and enjoy the fruits of our own labors. Name calling and such is nothing more then immaturity in my view.

he keeps harassing me even though i ignore him

He's jealous because he doesn't have the company of 1/2 million other Trainz users. :)

Ignore him. He'll go away like any bug out there.

Perhaps I'm lucky that I was never called a foamer or even a railfan. I like railroads and rail history and have since I was 3 years old. I've never gotten in anyone's way or caused any damage to any equipment and was even asked if I wanted to work for the Boston and Maine back in 1981. I never did (smart move) because shortly after that Guilford gutted the company. Anyway in the past I've seen foamers climb signal masts to get their best photo or video. I read posts by rail employees over at www.railroad.net and www.trainorders.com of foamers getting railroad jobs and causing grief by creating outright dangerous conditions because they already know how to do the job. On other occasions they get side tracked watching some switching move and forget what they're supposed to do. There was a post on www.railroad.net recently about one foamer that decided to take things upon himself and dispatch trains because he knew how to do it.

These people are best avoided because they are psychotic and really are the ones that give quiet railfans a bad name.

So much the same with police officers and security guards! I imagine every occupation has it's own set of 'wannabes' out there somewhere! I've even dealt with a few in the trades.

i dont mind being called a railfanner i just dont like being called a foamer, it sounds like a criminal word

Let's burn down the embassy!!!!!

Harold

Heck Yeah! :D

I had a CalTrans employee ask me if I was a foamer, I said no. Primarily because he said they were looking for foamers who were stealing pieces of rail equipment..... TRUE STORY.

certain things stick in a persons memory never mind how old one gets.
One of those things that sticks for me is that I got a miniature train set for christmas looongggg ago . Good quality , one of those in the see through plastic packaging ...perfect little wind up locomotive , rolling stock and the rails one could see in the little compartments through the plastic...my mom stuck it away but I found it , and could not keep my hands and eyes off it , or wait for christmas day...
I think the poor person who calls us foamers never got any christmas presents.

I enjoyed the comments. However rule 1 is not to feed the troll. Don't bite. You can be creative and do a response video about a sad sack who posts on Youtube.

Foamer o.0?
Never heard it but Ouch!
Now I am going to give up all my train related hobbies & software
and go :'( alone in the corner.
I have never been offended so much in my entire LIFE!
What does it mean again?
lmaoooooooooooooo

A "Foamer" is someone that drewls at the mouth, to a point that his mouth foams like a rabid dog, at the site of a Herritage unit, talking incessantly, screaming and shouting, ruinng the sound track of someones railroad video recording. Some "Foamers" actually talk right over, and throughout the sound track of their own railroad video recording, ruining the video sound track !

so with all my anger let out, i am gonna have someone close this thread tomorrow so if you anything else to say about this say it now be tomorrow

there is a difference between a foamer and a fan.. and a foamer is a bit too much to handle for some people getting all worked up over metal but, a fan is also more comfortable.
