Trainz Gallery - Will Not Load

2 weeks had passed already, is there an approximate time avaliable?
I think the announced outage might mean they are working on it. But as someone that used to fix these sorts of things, you really can't put a time on them until they are almost fixed. You just looks a fool to say it will take two hours and it turns out to be 24.

And after the fix is released you find that it changed a little known value and there is another customer or two that are unhappy. N3V does not seem to have a subset of customers who voluntarily test fixes before publishing.

How do you test a website fix before publishing?
You would have to set up a duplicate of your entire web site with the copy, the test version, only accessible by certain users. While this may sound simple, from personal experience it actually adds significantly to the complexity and the work load. If anything, I found that it actually increased the chance of errors.

For alpha (in-house) testing, a suite should be produced that activates functionality and checks against expected responses. This can be by a human or scripted. The website fails at the first level, which should have easily been caught. It may be that some photo returns unexpected results, which is more difficult to catch.

pware, that makes perfect sense. I should have thought of it myself, but I was being half-serious and half funny. It was unclear if the poster was aware that prerelease testing of a website was what was being discussed, and I wanted a reminder that was both humorous and inoffensive. I`m sorry if this caused problems.

No, it did not cause any problems. I thought that your question was a rhetorical one (the emphasis on the do) for which you already knew the answer. I totally agreed with your point but decided to post my response in case anyone did not get the point.

Actually, while the question was indeed rhetorical, I did not already know the answer (I merely should have guessed), as you may already have inferred from my second post here, and I do appreciate the information. Thank you.

Symptoms have changed? (of Trainz Portal - Gallery not loading subsequent pages) - Tried it just now (not having seen this thread previously) and all searches except "recent activity" instead put up a huge Trainz advertising page instead. Since this appears to be a default, perhaps someone is working on the problem and this is an interim/test version of the repaired code.

I'm able to get to the Trainz Gallery fine. Unless I'm missing something, I accessed the Trainz Gallery via the link located near the Welcome username text in the upper right of the page - the text is the size of ants...

You're right, the gallery loads fine but try searching for a specific term and you'll be redirected to an N3V page advertising Trainz. The gallery doesn't work at the moment although they are currently working on it in the background apparently.

Cheers,

PLP

Oops, you're right! I didn't go that deep into the page.

I suppose the advertising beats an under construction page.
