I've been following this thread since yesterday, and agree with the OP.

I had someone misuse my site feedback facility recently as well, but they did it anonymously (but I do have their IP address if needed).

I personally dislike users who break the Code of Conduct, and will report any such posts.

I've personally been at the receiving end of rude users myself, usually whilst trying to help them solve their problems.

Some of these users usually do not even have a registered Trainz version, which really annoys me when they are asking regarding things like patching, which cannot be done with an unregistered version. Perhaps N3V should make it that it is required to register the serial number to a Planet Auran account in order to use later versions.

Shane

P.S. The part regarding serial number registration only applies for versions that do come with a serial number.

That's the sad thing about stuff like this, since this same problem has effected me in the past while I've developed software and supported it for free in some shape or form.

I agree - my tutorial website for example is funded from my own pocket (and as some know domain hosting is not free).

I had to help deal with a particularly troublesome user not too long ago who publicly stated they were using a illegal version. Something tells me that user may be part of the cause of the hacking issues.

Hi Everyone,

Sad isn't it!!!!

People got nothing better to do but to bounce on other folks! This is one reason that i don't except PM message and have disable all of my contacts through my profile, because there are moments that people think that we nust live up to their standards, and have forgotten that this is a fun and enjoyable trainz simulation (a game) -- Another reason that i don't post all that much unlike yesteryears is because during my years here I have gotten into war of words with people who never downloaded my content, and yet they expressed thier negative opinions on my thread, for whatever reason! It is sad that we must take measures today to, in many ways, hide ourselves!

Anyhow, I do hope that if someone in these forum are feeling the pressure due to someone ignorants please don't allow it to get to you -- report it to Auran, to report it to us, report to whoever listen, but don't ever ever allowed anyone on this Earth to get the best of you, because at the end of the day that individual are just a lonely soul masking themselves behind a keyboard!

Ish

As I posted earlier in this thread name and shame them.

I 1,000,000% (exaggeration needed) agree with everyone here. I mean, what is up these days, with the increasingly large amount of people constantly wanting this and that and then constantly asking "Is it done yet?", seriously, give those content creators out there who are spending their own free time making things, some space and let them do what they (content creators)want and not what so & so wants. Now, I really haven't dealt with this, although I had one person who felt the need to post about 20 pictures of stuff I should make on my website, and it was all stuff that required brand new models and knowing my skill level and the time required, I would never get them done (which if you know how I do things, I start them and never even finish them, so like that was going to happen). Another thing that really gets me is when someone will ask one of the Big 2 (my term for JR and RRMods) to make something that they want. Now, that is rather unrealistic as these are two companies, basically, that are going to make items that please alot of people and not make items to please one specific person. One thing that I think really needs to stop is when someone wants object x to be made and when someone else tells them to go and make it themselves they play the "I don't know how to" card. I mean, it really isn't that hard to learn how to do this stuff. The only way for something to be done is to do it yourself. I totally get why some creators switched to payware (as in the case of Steve's K4) because they were sick and tired of being bothered all the time about when was it going to be finished. I think it is sad that we have reached this point, but I think it was unavoidable. Of course then you get those ungrateful people who then criticize freeware content creators about a certain piece because "it is not accurate enough" or "it isn't right at all" or just the plain "it sucks". Honestly?!?! Unless that person has the ability to make something so much better, then they have no room to criticize. We should, as boyerm25 said, be grateful for what content creators make. Also, am I the only one or has anyone else noticed that once a person is told to stop constantly pestering about an item, that person just seems to disappear from the forums? There is a load of other s*** that really makes me nuts, but I don't want to bore you. To quote the ever-so wonderful Beatles: "It's all too much for me to take".

Judging by the way things are going here, I may just stick to TCR.:hehe:

Wow, I think this is the most I have typed in one post.

P.S: Thanks to all of you out there who take the time to make all of the amazing and overly delightful content, it is much appreciated.

I can relate to alot of this, been from Railworks ( i know, i am a sinner!!). I have been getting no end of trouble from that way on and i am in the process of looking into creating freeware for Trainz. I have had alot of offers to sell my work through RS.com but due to the problems i have decided to leave.

The thing is i have alot of projects and even a 185 ( was working on the cab ), that are sat doing nothing. So my offer is if the Freeware community would like them and wants to get them into Trainz i would be more than happy to send over my models etc. So if anyone is interested send me a pm and will get it sorted.

Having read through this thread, I was curious about the types of content creation that attract this sort of bad behaviour. I confess I haven't seen any abusive or unpleasant posts of this nature - perhaps I have been lucky. :o

I'm not a prolific content creator as I prefer to make locos which take forever to build. To illustrate this I started a blog back on the 26th Feb on my current project and now, almost five months later, I am still working on it. I've only taken a couple of breaks to do scripting for others. I wish I had tracked the number of hours.

I doubt if many realise the amount of time it takes to research a project and then build one. I'm aware of one particular project where the author is not only building a route, but also most of the buildings of the period and all the rolling stock.

At the end of the day this is only a game for some, a simulator for others and a passion for those who like to make their own assets - because they have the skill, talent and patience to do it.

Yeah Paul, I've been meaning to send you a threatening E Mail about how much time you're taking, if that makes you feel any better!:hehe:

Wow! My first threat - am I now famous? :hehe:

ps. I still love my personalised Trainz menu screen. Your little tute taught me a lot about my image editor.
pps. The loco will be finished sometime this year - maybe!
