Trainz build "out of date"

When I started up TS12 just now, I got a message stating my Trainz build is "Out of Date" . Is this referring to the "HOT fix 3" that is available now? Do I really want to do that or should I wait. Will my version (build 49922) still function properly? It seems to. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

The reason that's now come up is because SP1 has been released on auto-patch. If you do not want to install it, click No when prompted on startup.

If you want to try it,I'd suggest backing up your User Data folder, more specifically the Local and Original subfolders. Then , uninstall Trainz, getting rid of all traces, then do a clean install of the basic game. Then install SP1. Don't start Trainz, reboot and install each hotfix one at a time, rebooting between each, with your anti virus turned off. Do not touch the computer during these updates, be warned they may take a long time.Once everything is patched up, reimport your backed up content, do an Extended Database Repair and the start the game.

Sounds like a lot of work ! Not sure if I know how to do all of that. Can I just leave everything alone, or will this eventually lead to problems, forcing me to do the updates at some point in time ?

It is a bit time consuming. I took me about 4 hors or so to get everything in, but others have reported it tanking much longer. You can leave things as they are if you are happy with the way the game runs, you just won't be able to take advantage of any of the fixes and features that may have been added.

I have had "zero" problems with my TS12 so far. I have been running it since Dec. '12. I thing I'll just leave things alone for now. Thanks to both of you for your help!

Good idea. Just keep an eye on things, read the various patch and HF notes and do the update hen and if you ever need to.

One possibility you might consider is to specify a different path location for the new install. That's what I did. Although in my case, the new location as a thumb drive, which has stronger and weaker points. the weaker points: you really need a USB 3.0 compliant thumb drive, and it will still take several hours for the SP1 patch to apply (I did successfully install the game and patch to a USB2.0 thumb drive, and the patching time took 36 or so hours). Patching is probably faster to a HDD. The stronger point, for me, is the portability. I can take my whole train environment with me by taking along the thumbdrive and my laptop.
