Trainz at the TS12/T2 crossroads

T2 Kickstarter is sitting at 50% pledge level or there about as I write this post.
As I see it we are 50% away from a real future for Trainz or at least 2 more band-aids for TS12 and a long wait for the new version T2 without Kickstarter.
I for one am tired of endless database repairs slow graphics, stutters and in actual fact only getting my 50% worth of hobby time in as the other 50% is wasted with the endless obstacles the 32 bit game has to deal with on my 64 bit computer that rates all 8's on Microsoft stats.
Have your say and make it pay - get on to Kickstarter and we can all get on and really make hay!

If it helps get us across the line I for one will make 100 x $5 pledges if and when it comes down to it.

Indeed, especially if what WindWalkr has said is true regarding Content Manager (and possibly TADDaemon as well), in that they could be replaced by something new from the ground up.

Spot on Shane - to never see another TaDDaemon freezing up the works would be sheer bliss and hopefully a real usable content manager.
Still a long wait without Kickstarter.

True - one reason why I've pledged and why I'm encouraging as many as I can to pledge, both on here and on the Kickstarter comments page itself.

Butler57,

look at it this way...
See how fast a week is gone, a month.. at least for me and a year is even faster around the corner to be turned and T2 should be up and running if things go well.

Nothing to lose only a win win we kind of risk but not really!

Roy

That's the way I see it as well Roy. If anything, it's a no-risk way (the way I see it) of getting the next generation of Trainz in just over a year's time (instead of the 2-3 years without Kickstarter), as well as getting rewards in the process.

Hi Roy,
Glad your about - I have your great CRM route - but like all great routes it's all a chore in TS12. I cannot even begin to imagine the dilemma's you had in it's creation. Imagine if you could have built it with a 64 bit game engine - one day closer I hope.

Yeah, cross the bridge when we get to it, if there is no bridge the trainzers including NV3 will build a good solid one .

Hey Buddy we sorry N3V made it halfway.
Yes the sweat, tears n blood n frustration many times are part of creating any descent route.
I am really looking forward to see the hard work seen rewarded with a good simulator like they announce now.
All I put in my routes, detail, size was already meant for an eventual change fro trainz to a new engune n features.
Now all of this looks like to happen, yes makes me really happy looking forward to all of it.
In the meantime finish now the first section of the Laggan Sub Tane/T2 compliant/ready and more to come next year.
Ok guys pledge it is more than worth it.

this forum is one of a kind!!!

I got the feeling this KS project brings us all even more closer together in real trainzers friendship and beyond.
Is that something!

Ya'll have a nice evening,day.

Roy.

I couldn't have said it better myself. This is true and as Shane says this is one of the reasons why I am a big supporter of this Kick Starter. I too want to make this the best train simulator out there. I'm sure Greg Lane is very pleased to see his baby growing up, finally and perhaps being the dream that will finally come true.

I'm still deciding at what level to pledge as yet, but hopefully, T2 will relight that spark that I used to have for Trainz. I can only hope.

You know, Mike, it did rekindle things somewhat for me, but only because they didn't expand DRM completely. Maybe it's more relief...:) However, it's good to see that so many topics that the community longed to have addressed are finally on the table, and at least a few will be funded if KS is successful.

I see someone mentioned some of the issues with the latest version which is trainz 12, in which I have had some issues with TADDaemon compressing textures on every piece of rolling stock from jointed rail that has gave me fits, had one particular piece of content from a great content creator who I will not mention, been a steam locomotive, installing it would not take no more and/or less than a few minutes, all we can do is hope some of the bugs that was in last year's version which required a huge patch four hot fixes which eats up hard drive space to squash does not carry over into the upcoming new version.
