Trainz and a Laptop

3Ds MAX will be my demise
G'day!

So I've recently purcahsed an ASUS Automobili Lamborghini Laptop Limited Addition VX-7.
Just wanted to check if it is good enough to run Trainz. The specs are:

Intel Quad Core i7-2670QM (2.20GHz) Processor, 15.6" Full HD (1920 x 1080) LED Display, 16GB DDR3 1333MHz Memory, 1.5TB (2 x 750GB 7200RPM) Hard Drive, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M 3GB GDDR5 Graphics Card, Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit.

are they good enough to run Trainz?

Cheers! :)

Jake.

Yes, but at what level? My laptop is far less impressive than yours and runs 12 and 2006 just fine, but I have to keep in mind the limitations imposed by my built in graphics chip. You will also find that while Trainz will run on your toaster, you still won't be flat out all the time.

G'day!

What level?

At least to run 5000M draw distance with 30-40 FPS. :D And not lag when SpeedTrees are encountered. :hehe:

Cheers! :)

Jake,

I don't see anything wrong with this laptop. It looks like a real beast of a machine. What did it cost, may I ask?

The video specs are excellent. You will have a top-of-the-line video chip in this machine.

Having said this, you shouldn't have any problems. Trainz does quite nicely on my Alienware M17x with its ATI5970m, which is a bit slower. I would have gotten the 560m but that wasn't available at the time.

G'day!

I think this thing cost me well over 2000 smackaroos. :hehe: A LOT of money went towards this. I've been wanting a laptop like this for at least two and a half years. And I finally got it! :D

I was going to ask for an ATI Raedeon 5450 in this machine. But the same thing happened. It was unavaliable at the time.

Cheers! :)

Jake.

BestBuy has an I7 - 17", 2.0 Ghz, 8Gb Ram 1Tb HD, Asus latop that has 2 Gb dedicated graphics memory, for $1044 ... a 2.20 Ghz for $1249

Buy in Delaware and save $65 over Pa sales tax

I build routes on an el' cheapo laptop ... and run Trainz on a desktop PC with a good video card

Just though I'd mention the FPS I got on Balezino - Mosti....

97.6! :hehe:

I am going to give this machine a real test by purchasing Battlefield 3. :D

Cheers! :)

That's awesome, Jake. Congratulations on your purchase. I hope you get many years of good use out of the machine.

Just remember to back up your content regularly, though. Laptop hard drives tend to die a lot quicker than the larger versions found in desktops. I'd hate to see you lose everything to the bit heaven where all good data goes.
