Hello everyone, I am pretty new to trainz so if this has an easy fix i apologize. But I have been creating a few routes recently and after a few minutes of placing stuff all the images and names for everything disappears and i cant place anything anymore. This has made me restart my computer and repeat the same thing all the time. Does anybody know how to solve this?

Welcome to the forums and to Trainz.

It sounds like you need to perform a database repair.
Close out of Trainz back to the Launcher.
Click on the Developer menu at the top.
Choose Rebuild Database.

When this has completed, give TRS22 a few minutes to cache your content again before editing your route.

While you're are at it, exclude your TRS22 data-folder and TRS22.exe from your antivirus. Antivirus programs have a field day with the compressed files and can wreak havoc with saving and even program performance.

Plus be certain you are editing a route and not a session of the route.

It's really easy to end up accidentally doing edits in a session layer. But if you add anything to that layer they won't appear in the route layer.

Another easy way to get into trouble is to use Driver in a Session, then Pause in Driver and switch into Surveyor from within the Session to make changes.to either the Session or the Route. Upon saving the changes, you will lose the initial settings you had in the start of the Session.

I can't advise you on Surveyor 2.0, I'm still using S 1.0 in TRS19.

I made that mistake the other day! I abandoned a line, put in a rail trail, made another connection elsewhere, and then so happened to move near a yard when I noticed some freight cars... My stomach sank!

It's an easy mistake to make because I was interrupted before switching to Surveyor and forgot where I was.

I agree, new users should start with Classic Surveyor before moving on to Surveyor 2.0. The tools are there to do everything they want to do before stepping into the more complex and advanced editing found in Surveyor 2.0.

Rebuilt it and now its even worse. I can't even search anything without the same issue happening

I'm no expert, but here's my thoughts ...

I hope it lets you shut down the program normally. The Trainz database can be corrupted when using forced shutdowns.

Can you test your RAM memory and your storage media for proper operation?
How big is your pagefile?

Your situation seems rather extreme. I'm not certain what would be causing that.

Do you have other programs that edit and save large amounts of data? How are they behaving?

I don't know why, but this reminded me of the issues I had with Surveyor 2.0 thumbnails locking up the game for me. Images and assets disappeared with no real explanation, and it would force me into killing the game improperly thus corrupting my early routes. All I could do was revert the route to it's last save state, properly close the game out, relaunch, run the full db rebuild, prebuild the cache, and then did a second prebuild. I launched my route, turned off the thumbnails for the assets and just rely on the Preview Window to know what I am using.

Just another avenue to explore.
