Trainz 2022: Queensgate Yard Cincinnati Route Build

Hey All, since I started my Trainz 2022: the CSX Indiana Subdivision thread back in March of 2025, I had always wanted to expand the project to orginate in the CSX Queensgate Yard in Cincinnati and after a day long trip tracing the route, we ended up spending a couple of hours driving around the massive yard.

Last summer, I started dabbling with the creation of YouTube videos which lead to my YouTube Channel: Monon Railfan

On the way back from a family trip to Tulsa, we diverted to La Plata, MO and spent the night and next day hanging out there and then on to Fort Madison, IA. You'll find a few videos posted there with more to come and now I am focusing on this new project, the Queensgate Yard:

It's roughly 20 miles across from the Maysville Portal to North Bend where it will connect to my CSX Southern Indiana Route and as advised by the best of 'em out there, break this into Modules since the entire CSX Southern Indiana Map will now cover over 200 miles from side to side. Once I finish getting the rail laid out, there will be numerous Portals (Destinations) including: North Bend, OH on the way to St. Louis via Lawrenceburg, IN; Louisville, KY; Lexington, KY; Ashland, KY; Maysville, KY; Plainville, OH; Columbus, OH; Dayton, OH and actually a track heading northeast towards Indianapolis.

Again, using TransDem mapping, you know that it does crazy things to the Rail, Road and Water splines so Phase 1 is to sort out the actual Queensgate Yard and the various connection points all around the map. I plan on dropping the first video later this week so you can get the feel from the Maysville Portal over to the far west side on the way to North Bend, OH and passing the southern end of the Queensgate Yard.

Here's a taste of what's to come:

A CSX Grain Train crosses the Ohio River on the Cincinnati Bridge heading North
towards the Queensgate Yard Southeast Access

CSX Queensgate Yard looking towards the South end of the Yard

The Queensgate Yard has 1 Hump Track leading to 50 Sorting Tracks

I'm still working out some of the bugs in the Hump Yard scripting but it's functional for now as I'm still learning how to best program it. Some of the on-line Tutorials are helpful but not complete based on the assets that you use and I'm still trying to figure that one out...

Special "Thanks" for the inspiration from developers using Survey 2.0 and adding them to YouTube so guys like me can learn: Approach Medium, Wasted Tris / Derznovich, DHTrainz and the rest of the Trainz 2022 community for the encouragement and great advice...!!!

I would love to here from you so please feel free to let me know whatcha think..!

Stay tuned...!

I know the Queensgate yard well. That yard and Union Terminal are on my Levi & Appalachian RR route. I did take a lot of artistic licenses with it, but it is made from a TransDEM map I made. My route runs from Levi KY. to Norwood OH. It crosses the Ohio River at Maysville and turns east to Cincinnati.

I know you have a lot of work ahead of you but stay with it as you'll love it once done. It only took me 8 years .
