Trainz 2012 and windows8.1

Hi

I have just updated to windows 8.1. but now I cannot get Trainz12 to run.

The programme will start normally and I get to the green starting screen, from where I can choose to drive a session, select a route etc.

When clicking on "selecte route" the screen will go black. After a while the windows screen saver appears. After clicking on the screen I am asked for my windows password. I return to the desk top, but I am unable to get back to trainz.

Any help?

Hi Tobias,

I am currently running TS12 under Windows 8.1 with no issues at all. I did the following:

1) Installed the program to a folder other than the default path.

My install is on my D: drive in D:\N3V\TS12 instead of C:\Program Files (x86)\... etc.

2) I installed the program as Administrator.

Right-click on the installer (Setup) and run as Administrator

3) Configure the program to run as administrator

(Right-click on the short-cut and choose Compatibility tab. Choose the lowest checkbox - Run as Administrator

4) Ensured my video drivers are up-to-date

5) Installed the DirectX 9.0c libraries. Check out the sticky link above for the DirectX installer. This is a binary file from Microsoft that will update your DirectX files.

If you need to install any patches, do the same with the Administrator rights and operation. This will ensure that they operate properly.

This procedure, by the way, is the same as installing on Windows Vista and Windows 7.
