hi all I`m building a new route in Tranz2010EE, I am getting this message when ever I try to archive/save -------------

"session was saved successfully but surveyor was unable to commit it to the trainz asset database this task can be completed in the content manager"

I haven't got a clue of what it means or how to go about it could someone please kind enough (in Janet and John language) take me through this procedure.
Regards John, (aka stockline)

Use Content manager, find your route which is probably open for edit, highlight it and press ctrl and M to commit it.

However that may not be the problem, if you are using Vista or Windows 7 and you installed to Program Files you need to run Trainz as Administrator otherwise it can't save.

To run as Administrator right click on the Trainz icon > properties > compatibility > mark the box that says "Run this program as an administrator"

Am using windows XP-Pro ,2Gb memory, I tried ctrl / M as you suggested in CMP but to be honest i`m in such a mess with the archives that i`ll wait until tomorrow ( new day /date ) and try saving again and will let you know how i get on,
many thanks for help so far
Kind Regards John.

I hit this problem over the weekend.

Trainz runs a database called Jet, and I think changes are saved to the database, and then to disk. If you do not have admin rights, they still get saved to the database in RAM, but not to disk. And it only seems to warn you once. So you start editing another layout, and all seems fine; you can even go into driver mode, apparently saving before hand. Exit Trainz altogether, and all those changes are lost.

To commit changes in the content manager, you would need to keep Trainz running while you start up the content manager (with admin rights), and then commit the changes (but whether that will work, I do not know for sure).

Jet is not the datebase - Jet is in fact the Graphical Software package that tainz run under/in.

It is alway best under windows to run trainz as the admin other wise you do get these issue over file access and save.

you might want go to the Ts2010 area of the fourms as this issue has been covered a few times

thanks for your reply, to be honest I'm getting really fed up of trains lately, I've been working on a layout since the days of trains 2004, I have upgraded to every new issue of trains as they came along, and made sure of course that when importing my layout that I ticked the backwards compatible boxes.
This is probably the third time in as many weeks that I've had a complete fresh install of trains, I have a genuine registered version of Tranz2010EE, and am just wondering whether or not it's worth purchasing 2012 ?.
Just finished 20 min ago after adding the build update (Was build 41491) is now build 44008, not yet imported the layout and working on but I know if I do it will have 6.75 GB of items from the DLS to update before I can even start, I wish there was some way it was possible to highlight all the out of date items and let it do its own thing which I reckon at the speed of the server recently would take two or three days!, Rather than relying on the latest modifications to my layout I would rather backup the whole game or any particular folders that rely on the content manager telling me everything is saved.

don't quite know what you mean by this can you explain, call me thick but by default and I'm not running trains as administrator anyway? If not how do I ensure that I am can you explain please:-)
kind regards john aka (stockline)
