Hi this is Daniel's mum, I need some help please. I bought Daniel the game for
Christmas. I bought it at the beginning of Novenber. Everytime he try's playing the game it works for a while then blacks out sometimes it comes back sometimes he has to close down. We have no idea what is going on with it. Oh he is playing it on his new laptop so there shouldn't be any problems with it.

Hi Daniel's Mum, welcome to the forum!

Trainz is a program which demands a fairly high level of computer resources and it can sometimes be a problem on a laptop.

To be of any real help though we need more information. Firstly we need the laptop's specs. Secondly we need a fuller explanation of what is happening when the program 'blacks out' and thirdly we need to know which version of Trainz you are running - post the Build Number from the bottom right hand corner of the first menu screen.

You should also register Daniels copy of the game in his profile.

EDIT: And fourthly NEVER post multiple issues of the same request, cause taking the time to try to help then finding the same thing answered elsewhere is darned annoying

I agree with andy, trainz is not ideal for a laptop.
However try this, when the lads running the sim open main menu (top left). Video settings should be open. Draw distance, lower this to 1500, good weather fog- slider all the way to the right, scenery and texture detail, set both to low.
This will reduce the load on the laptop.
