Thanks to my father, he managed to get Trainz working after a lengthy overhaul of my PC. But after a minute or so when Trainz has launched, the screen blacks out for a second and then, the image appears smaller than usual on an odd spot and now it's hindering my progress!
That fixes that particular problem. Make sure you check your build number and download the correct "from" patch, for example if your build number says 42203 don't download the 42831 to 44088, get the 42203 to 44088 one. Run the disk cleanup utility, empty your recycle bin, check that you have enough free disk space, and when you run the patch LEAVE IT ALONE even if it appears to be frozen - it's checking files. Most people who have had problems patching either had a full temp folder, insufficient disk space, and/or canceled the install process leaving the game half patched and corrupted.
Follow the instructions, and don't use your PC while the patch is running (it may take a long time - hours - and may look as if it has stalled half way through, just leave it !!). If this does not cure your problem then post again.
