Trainz 2009. After install of SP 1 it crashes

I have installed 2009,a gift, and because it has only what is on the disc I decided to patch to SP1. After locating this on Just Trains I patched from 38869-40040. I was surprised that the patching only took 20mins. When I restarted Trainz it wanted me to enter all my info. again before the sim would let me play. This happened every time on startup. I then tried to load a route to drive and there was nothing there so I exited the sim. After that the sim tred to load but after a few minutes just crashed. I uninstalled it.

Is this a common thing to happen and do I just have to keep trying or can somebody give any reason and an answer?

Thanks

Hi Dellboy,

I'm not sure about the Just Trainz version of 2009 but earlier versions required the original disk to be available to run the program.
Maybee someone can clear this up for you.

Hi Guys

Thanks for your comments. First of all I forgot to mention that I re-installed Trainz and it runs fine with the content from the disc except occasionally it stutters and starts bufferirng, due to small series card see below. It passed the Trainz diagnostic test as well so I don't think it is to do with the computer:) Just in case though, and because Shane has asked for the specs, here they are.
Wndows XP PRO SP3, CPU 2.8ghz, Ram 2gb, Nvidia ge force 5200 card ( not very big but works well). 200gb hard drive.

Hope thats all you need.

Thanks

Hi Dellboy,

The crucial aspect with Trainz 2009 is the graphics card - I will need to have a look into that one.

The memory aspect may be a little low as well.

Others may notice other things as well.

Also check your settings in the Trainz Options box to make sure that they are suitable for your system.

It's worth installing the remaining patches for TS2009 in case the buffering issue is related to that build. (At least as far as Service Pack 3 - build 41844)

Hi Shane

Thanks for that.

Are you saying try to install the SP1 and see if it works although it was the cause of the problem to start with?

I have tried to download some content but a lot of it shows up as 'content is invalid'.Would this be anything to do with the patches not being installed? but some has been fine.

May well be. Some content can only be downloaded if you have Service Pack 4 installed, some content requires TS2010 SP4, and some requires TS12.

Hi Shane

This is becoming a real nightmare now . I have tried to install SP1 again but this time after all the computer checks were done by install wizard the computer crashed and rebooted itself.

On another tack. In CM In the list of missing dependances how do I go about finding where they are and retrieving them.
