Trainz 2009/10 discontinuation

Bhorton

At work on the SKLR
So, on September 1st, Trainz 2009 and 2010 will loose support, and I was wondering, Will Trainz 12 have a sale soon, for those who have to upgrade? Or will we be forced to shell out the $29.90?

If you have a FCT you will not need to upgrade you will still be able to download content that is on the D/S
The main problem is no more content will be uploaded after sept 1st for either TS2009 or TS2010

My guess would be no. This is a simple case of supply and demand. When a lot of people want to buy something, the seller will either raise the price by some dollars or keep it the same. That's my viewpoint.

It's just business, afterall....

I would guess that the price of TS12 will drop once TANE is out. I'd suggest waiting for TANE to see if that meets the need.

I agree with Post #4. However, should N3V run into any "cost overruns" in getting TANE to market they might discount the TS12 purchase price to raise capital. Who knows? It just depends on how long you want to wait to get access to anything at trainz-build 3.5+ after September 1. Most of it will be the same as the 2.9 build content but just with a higher build number required to get it onto the DLS. Remember though that as of September 1 you will no longer be able to DL anything from the DLS/black pages without a FCT (currently you can DL without a FCT but at only about 5-6 KBS) and, without TS12, you will only be able to DL content placed on the DLS before September 1.

This is not quite completely accurate. Better to read that as

"The main problem is no more content will be uploaded [to the DLS] after Sept. 1st for either TS 2009 or TS2010 [but there may be a 3rd party site where this content may be exchanged].

Note, too, that although N3V will stop providing official support come Monday, the forums for every version of the simulator are still available.

Quite some time ago I merged Trainz 10 into Trainz 12. With no more support for Trainz 10, does that make my Trainz 12 installation non supportable? Is it a bad idea now to have this installed together?

What do you mean by merged? Took your TS2010 content and imported it into TS12? IF the Launcher says it's TS12 then you have TS12 and are still good to go in Sept.

A bit pedantic wouldn't you say? I think when people mention uploading here, the implied destination is the DLS since that is the only place CM will look to get objects and their dependencies. Anywhere else is a DIY operation.

Agreed, and the other thing as well - anything not on the DLS/not builtin/not part of a payware DLC pack cannot be used for Multiplayer. (note: these 3 are not mutually exclusive - you can have an asset that's on the Download Station and builtin or part of a payware pack).

Used wrong term sorry, Import Content is the function I used. And yes launcher shows TS12.

From my personal experience, right this moment, 2:23 AM EST, 8-31-2014, N3V are already restricting access to the DLS for CMP 3.3 builds, and I HAVE an active FCT, and TS12 registered...

I have been waiting for almost 2 hours for the CMP to stop "Searching" and start "Downloading".

If this is N3V's newest tactic to FORCE sales of TANE, it will most certainly backfire, but they care not, because they already have a years wages from you poor Kickstarter funders...

Actually, the DLS and Planet Auran appear to be down. The Black Pages are extremely slow and PA is out entirely.

Well, in that case, maybe it is just typical N3V lack of concern for those who have already paid for a service, and failure to be proactive in preventing "crashing" of the system, when there is an expected influx of enormous usage (All the TS2010 users rushing to upload/download before the Sept. 1 Deadline).

Either way, N3V are performing below expected standards, and anyone who thinks the future will be any different just because of a new software "game engine" are sadly delusional.

There could be a few reasons why the DLS/Planet Auran systems have gone down. Bear in mind that N3V actually rent the servers from another company.

Maybe it's because you're doing the right thing in the wrong way. For example this part of your post that breaks the CoC by criticising moderator actions in the forum.

Step back, think about it rationally.

The CMP issue is across the board (for some users) i think, as i have TS12 CMP 3.7 and all weekend i have had terrible connection to the DLS, i posted in FCT DLC part of the forum and i got replies saying i wasn't the only one, as i type this CMP is reporting Content manager is Offline,

it will be a server issue at N3V end,

To-day is 31st August and I cannot log into Trainz. I have done the usual regarding password etc. Response is check firewall and internet connection..i am on 40 gig Fibre so is Auran down for the weekend.?

Your right. I read somewhere that the uploaders provided the content for trainz and Auran got it all for free and sold it back for AUS$29.99. Wish I had thought of it first.
