Hello,

I have made and saved a new map on surveyor, but when i close the game and load it up again the saved game has gone. As if it hadnt been saved. But i know full well it has.

Thanks , George

It sounds like it might be a Vista problem. Can't tell for sure until you provide us with some details about your machine.

Please post your computer specs and operating system.

Thanks, but when i click the link i get metfan91, you do not have permission to access this page
What can i do?Thanks.

Do you mean disable the anti-virus when installing TRS2006 or when playing it? When yo say applied sp1, do you mean installed sp1 before installing the game?

Cheers once again, George

Hi George,

He means to disable the antivirus when installing Trainz. You need to install the game first then SP1. Do not launch the program at all before installing the service pack (SP1) otherwise the program will crash.

Also install and run the program as administrator. That will give you the rights to write to the program's local folder so you can save your game.

Post if you need help on this, I can or many other people up here can assist you.

Good luck.

John

Hi again George,

It seems rather odd that you cant get to the link,so I have posted the content of the link below

I cant edit the post that link applies to so I thought I would post this amendment.

In the link above Overmars stated that for him these changes need to be done when you first install Trs2006 and sp1 and it didnt work when he first tried it.

Now if you are going to reinstall trs2006 and sp1 "the correct way", besides following the sp1 install instructions exactly, is to make sure that when you install that you right click on the setup.exe and select "Run as Administrator" let it install then do the same for the sp1 patch file.

Then the first time you start trs as per the sp1 install instructions again right click and select "Run as Administrator".

This is also how you should install other "older (legacy) programs" in Vista so as to avoid problems latter

Then you should do the changes to the /bin application files by right clicking on each file listed below and select the properties page for the file and then select the compatibility page. On this page at the bottom is the privilege Level, select "run this program as an administrator" .
Select apply and then ok.

These are the files I changed -

CCP
CCPConsole
ContentManager
trainzutil
TPS2006

It has been suggested by others that you might also need to change the other application files as well. These would be -

gsc
gse
launcher
openGLextensions
Trainz
TrainzDiag

You may also need to add to the trainzoptions.txt file in the /trs2006 folder the following line

-intro=disable

Now it should work assuming that you also also have the latest graphics driver from the maker of you graphics card that did not come from Microsoft Update, ie you downloaded it from their website ( ATI, Nvidia or Intel) and installed it correctly.

I hope this helps

John

As for finding trs 2006 sp1, try this link, and click download/service packs

http://www.auran.com/TRS2006/index.php

Hope this all gets you going.

Lenny

I did what it said in the reply you posted.
But when i right clicked>run as admin
The Vista loading circle came up for ages and means i had to attempt the install and restart my computer again!

Can somebody help?

Cheers,George

OOOOOOKKKK :D
Just another quick question.
When making my route i then went into 'test drive session'
But then noticed that the Commodities and decouple options at the bottom had been disabled and i couldnt click them.
Do you know how to get them back into use.

Thanks,
George

Did you install SP1 immediately after reinstalling TRS2006? If you didn't, and ran TRS2006 unpatched, you'll end up with weird results.

Install TRS2006, install the SP1 (do not run Trainz at all or even CMP). Once the patch is installed, then you're all set to go.
