TRAINZ 2006 Reinstall problem

I had reinstalled my trainz when became this strange error
"CRC error: The file C:\Program Files (x86)\Auran\TRS2006\Bin\MSCOMCTL.OCX doesn't matc the file in setup's .cab file. The medium from witch you are running the setup may be corrupted; contact your software vendor"
Does anything i can do?

You have two options Try an extended database repair or Reinstall the game again and see what happens.
From what it sounds like it seems that one of the files are messed up so a data base repair should fix it and if not you will need to do the reinstall process again.

If its still not working tell us what it says now.

How i make a database repair?
Another question I have lots of download's from my older trainz and my FCT expired, i copy the files from my other trainz and a replaced and the computer is was very very slow thats why i try to reinstall

Always save your "Local" file in TRS2006, periodicly, that is where your downloads and custom routes are at.
A very large local file may need @ 1Tb External Hard drive to store that much data (mine is 47Gb Local file).

Database repair is in content mananger you click on file in there and it says quick database repair and extendend database do the extended one and after its done go into the game and see what happens then

Okay thanks
But how i make a database repair because i dont have the trainz installed on this pc and if i try to reinstall i gives me that error?

There is no such animule as a QDB repair, or EDB repair, tool button in TRS2006 under "File".

I can guide you through a reinstall, or new install on a new PC ... but you must have a copy of your "Local" file stored somewhere ... for transplanting.

Basicly ... in a corruption and uninstall ... reinstall ... you delete the assets.tdx & assets.bku & the factory "Local" file ... then you place your saved "Local" file where the deleted factory local file was ... close trainz ... reopen, and let it rebuild database

Well I hope you have the cd of the game because it sounds like your backed up game is currupted.
You will have to install directly from the cd the database I talked about only works if the game is installed and having errors
Its seems that your backed up game got currupted in the process of backing up.

There are a couple of possibilities here.

Firstly, check if the TRS2006 folder already exists (it may still be present from a previous install). If it is, I would advise backing up anything in there you want to keep to a seperate location then remove the original folder.

If not, a CRC error usually means the disc that you are installing from is damaged - it may be worth seeing if you can clean the disc (but do be careful - doing it incorrectly can cause other problems)

Beattie, that method only works for TS2009 and TS2010.

In TRS2006, the method is somewhat riskier, as it involves deleting assets.tdx from the main folder and assets.bku from the Cache folder.

I dont have anything from the older folder

PM me, sometimes a reinstall is not necessary, it depends ... do you have your "local" file stored, and backed up somewhere ... so you can transplant that saved local file into the TRS2006 reinstallation ?

Duing reinstall, turn off your Antivirus, and click install & OK to all the questions that flash on the page (DirectX, NetFramework ... etc ...).

From what it sounds all that is wrong is that DirectX is not installed or is corupted somehow.

Ah - one of my favourite topics (updating DirectX).

Luckily for you, I have a tutorial as a sticky at the top of this forum for updating DirectX 9.0c (which is actually installed, but only the very basic version - it still needs updating)
