Trainz 2006 Freezes up

I just upgraded my laptop to a Dell 5010R. When I first installed Trainz 2006 on it, it ran fine. Once I added some trains and set up schedules, that is where the problem starts. After I open up the route, it begins to freeze frame and lock up on me to include the sound, starts and stops. I have Win7 Professional, Intel Core i5 2.53Ghz, 4 gig of ram, ATI Mobility Radeon HD550v

I run this in Compatability mode, as administrator, in Win XP, Vista, and nothing helps.

Hi

I have trs2006 as well and am running it on a Dell with win7 and 64bit.
With my experience it may be missing dependencies with freeze ups.
2009 does not work on my pc but 2006 seems ok so far funnily enough. Are you running 32 or 64 bit as I have read that some people have problems with 64 bit.

It is registered and running in 64 bit mode. When I open it up, runs fine but click on the driver to expand it, and it starts, stops, starts, stops like freeze frame. I switched to 2006 on my old XP system and loved it. Would love to have it up and running like it used to again.

Ok, try updating your graphics card if you haven't done so already. Do this through the Dell Support Centre. This may help and is worth a try:).Also try updating your sound card.

Hope it helps.

It is registered and .....

Bigmike, what aardvark means is you need to register your copy of TRS2006 with Auran, you can do this by clicking on the 'Serial Number' button at the top of this forum. Once you do this it shows the TRS2006 'tick' next to your name and shows us that you have a 'legitimate' copy of the program.

Another thing: It may be worth running TrainzDiag to make sure there are not any other problems, and also check that everything is up to date, including DirectX.

OK, followed all the above recommendations. Will re-register program when I get home next week. I can open up Marias Pass or any other part of the program and it runs fine. Only issue is still in the Route I added trains too. Still freeze frames and stops working. Where do I find Trainzdiag??? Like I said, I am not at home but on the road and dont have the original disks with me right now.

Thanks in advance for all the suggestions. I will try anything to get the program to run.

TrainzDiag is found at either C:/Program Files/Auran/TRS2006/Bin (for 32-bit Windows systems), or C:/Program Files (x86)/Auran/TRS2006/Bin (for 64-bit systems)

This assumes that you have installed Trainz in the default location. If you have installed it anywhere else, you need to look in that folder.

Also, what build number is your version of Trainz? (bottom-left of main menu screen)

Have you tried switching between OpenGL and DirectX mode?

If DirectX mode is laggy, check you have the latest Directx version.

I appreciate everyones suggestions. I have tried all of them with no luck. I guess I will wait until I get home and do a clean re-install and try it again. I know my system exceeds PC requirements for the program.

Intel i5, 2.58. 4 gig of Ram, Windows 7 64 bit Professional, ATI Radeon graphics card with 1 gig of ram, 500G hard drive.

I still can run Marias Pass and others as is without freezing up. Only part I have a problem is where I have added trains and schedules.

Thanks again
