Trainz 2004 Ditch Lights

SD40-2 Lover
Are there any downloadable locomotives(preferably SD40-2's) for Trainz 2004 with flashing ditch lights? I don't care how you would activate them, but I would prefer there be a button on the key board or you press B to activate the bell and the ditch lights come on. All suggestions appreciated.

Why are you after 2004 format content when you only appear to only have 2009 - there can be some issue running 2004 version of trainz in 2009 you would be better off looking for 2009 version of a SD40-2.

I havnt registered my 2004 serial number yet. My 2009 number has been registerd and I have acsess to 2004 content. Trainz 2009 has lots of content bugs, surveyor issues, missing dependencies for content, errors for content that came with it (SD70's), and crashes more common than 2004. 2009 is a great game, but I will just stick with 04.

I may be wrong, but I don't think the scripting for flashing ditch lights existed for 2004.

So basically it converts TRS2004 into TS2009? LOL! I'm not kidding though. That is a summary of TS2009...
You must have got a bad version of 2009 or never installed any of the patches as I never had any of the problems you described = you did seek help with your problems or did you just write off 2009

My TS2009 was purchased and downloaded online. The L SD70"s have a script error, and it seems that it cannot startup in driver, but it works in DCC. Also, opening the train and track tools in surveyor. It always loads on the UP SD40-2 and the TS2009 Example Track. I think it how my PC has to handle some new files, so I will uninstall the TRS2004 Demo(I forgot to do so) so I can free up some RAM. Its not as horrible as I make it sound.

Uninstalling TRS04 frees up disk space not RAM - unless that is you are trying to run them both at the same time which would be (a) pointless and (b) possibly troublesome because your system would be attempting to run some core functions twice and I doubt if the game designers took that into account! And before somebody points out they run two versions of CM at the same time that's not the same thing :)

The UP SD40-2 loads by default in TRS09 and TS10, as does the Auran track. It has to start somewhere, the issue is can you select other items from the menus after the default selection loads?

Can't help with the scripted SD70 except to ask if you are fully patched up and is your OS Win7?

Oh - and Ed is right, there were no flashing ditch lights in TRS04. IIRC that was an 06 innovation, or was it 09? Either way it wasn't an 04 feature for sure!

I will try to get patched up. I have NETGEAR internet so the wifi is slow on my PC, but faster on my iPod and all other PC's in the house. I can get the patch, so I'll see what I can do. Also, that SD70 is JACKED THE HECK UP! I tried removing some trains. IO started on the UP SD40-2, switched to the NS SD70, I will be darned if all the locomotive's trucks disappeared! The trains still moved, with the exception of the SD70. I believe that due to the start up script on it, the SD70 is a 'Dead' engine. Once I am coupled up to it, the leading locomotive is unable to be controlled. Yes, I have Windows 7. If they can put flashing warning lights on top of the DD40X, why not put them into a smaller version on the ditch lights of a locomotive?
.

Win7 and Trainz is a can of worms I will leave to better qualified folks, but there are a zillion threads on the subject. Simplest fix though seems to be to NOT install Trainz to either 'My Programs' or 'Program x86' but put it straight on C:\

Disappearing bogies is a common sign of a stressed graphics card, what are your system specs?

A single orange light is not the same thing as two lights with a three-way switch: Off > On > Alternate Flashing

i never really tried it, but some of my older locos possibly worked with flashing ditchlights in TRS04. i have nothing of them anymore on my own hdd but some of the originals are freeware at jointedrail and might work. i think they were all 2.0 and up at the time. as my code demands got larger i had to abandon anything below 09 or i simply couldnt have the features i wanted.

This is the first time locomotive trucks have disappeared. So I'm not worried about that. System specs that I know: 2009 Compaq PC, a great graphics card(I Hope), some free disk space and good RAM/Memory. I PERSONALLY think it was that buggy SD70 start up-shut down script, but hey, that's just me. I have also seemed to encounter a strange mesh deformation with the use of some custom boxcars. Everything that is glitching has a detailed DLC custom bogey, standard for most DLC rolling stock. If you need an example, just let me know. The glitch occurs when changing camera angles. I can see the side of a railcar like normal, but when I go to the front, it 'bugs out' and the mesh for it gets deformed.

Flashing ditchlights never worked in 2004. There was a gigantic change in the game code/scripting for 2006 and onwards that allows this feature and many other types of scripting to enhance the game.

do you know that for sure or is it just something you heard? i do not have TRS04 installed anymore obviously, but i was developing script code at the time i made flashing ditchlights using the TRS04 documents, so i dont see why the flashing lights would not have worked in TRS04.

As far as I am aware the flashing ditch lights only work in TC3 and above (not sure about TC1 & 2 ) as I never had them.
But I can tell you they dont work in TRS2004 or TRS2006.
As a TS09 backwards converter to TRS2004/06 I have never been able to get them to work in these versions , something to do with the scripts I think.
If any one has a way of getting them to work I for one would like to know about it and how to get it to work

that is true for the game built-in ditchlights, but for scripted ones who knows.

one way to find out is get a hold of my old locos in the freeware section at my site and see if they do. cant make any promises, but i am curious to know if they did.

OK but which locos do you think have the ditch lights ?
