TRAINZ 12 question about rolling stock

I'm a new user and am currently enjoying the Norfolk Southern route that is included. I am beginning to add additional locomotives/rolling stock from the DLS and was wondering if there is anyway to tell if a particular car is already installed in a route. Perhaps a bit anal, but I'm trying not to have duplicates. I kind of like the idea that each is one of a kind. Thanks in advance.

One way to check is to go into CM and find and select the session you want to modify. When you right click on the asset one of the options is to view the dependencies which lists the included assets. At the bottom of that screen is a button to show the list in the main window. You now have a list of all the rolling stock in the session. Remember also that some of the rolling stock might have some form of auto renumbering and so it might look the same but the wagon, or locomotive will have a different number and so will be different. This information is usually included in the description and possibly also in the name of the asset.

Thanks for the quick and informative reply. I had seen some labeled as "auto numbering" but hadn't investigated that far as of yet.

As a side note, most of RGCX's repaints are each one of a kind. He's replicating individual freight cars, including the graffiti, so you'll only want one copy of each. But they sure replicate real-life railroading today.

There are a few others who use a similar technique here, too.

Check out majekear's freight cars. If there is a "#" in the description, it is auto-numbered. There are over 1200 auto munbered cars in his collection.
