Trainz™ Simulator 12 on STEAM

If that's the Steam version, patches are applied automatically in the background as and when they are released for that version.

You'll never ever hear anything back. They just dont care, I am waiting for them to get back to me about a refund but because it involves the fat cats at Steam giving me back my money they dont want to know.

Build number is given by N3V and is based on when it was done not what level it's patched up to. If the Steam patch was done after the N3V patch it will have a higher build number, fairly obvious that you can't use the N3V patch in Steam so a different one has to be compiled that works in Steam.
If you search the forum you will see this was explained last time something turned up with a higher build than the current latest version, that was a patch for 2010 released after TS12, so it had a higher build number but not a higher version.

This just goes to show that you should do more research before buying a product, and not just looking at the price tag and think "Mmmmm..."

To the original poster, please disregard every post in this thread other than the one from Shane and clam1952. Here are the facts and yes I have the Steam version as well as the retail version from N3V.
1. The Steam version does not need patching. It is already the most up to date version available.
2. The Steam version is not considered to be at SP1 yet but does have most of the features of SP1 already. In fact, it had these features before SP1 was released.
3. The requirements cited in the threads you linked to in the first post are the same for all versions of TS12 regardless of where it comes from. To play multiplayer you must have an free account at Planet Auran. You must register your serial number for the Steam version at Planet Auran. And you most download content from the DLS if you do not already have the content required by a multiplayer session and or route. If you don't have a First Class Ticket, the download speed is limited to 5 kbps regardless of which version you are using. And yes you can join multiplayer sessions hosted by users of the N3V version as long as they are at build 49922 or higher.

I use the Steam Version as much or more than the N3V version. It is NOT broken, in fact it runs very well and seems to have less problems than the current version from N3V. You can buy DLC from either N3V or Steam and as long as you have registered the serial numbers at Planet Auran it will download and install into your Steam version automatically.

I'm a really fidel client of Steam and I want to say that they are very seriously guys, I bought a lot of games at good prices and everything was ok. But this is the first time when I bought a broken game from them. From where the **** could I know that they didn't updated the game version to SP3 ... I didn't bought the game, a friend bought this game for me ... and it doesn't work. Steam has a contract with N3V Games and I have no idea which company must announce about a new update ... I think N3V announce for N3V Clients and Steam announce for Steam Clients ... but my question is: Does Steam know about SP3 Update ?!

Not a problem. Anyway, Steam probably are aware, although there are likely to be differences that mean that different fixes are required for the Steam version.

So the only problem is download speed ?! Tell me all steps to make this game running for multiplayer ...

There is one multiplayer session included for the Debrecen - Nyiregyhaza route. Choose that route from the Select Route menu. Then click the View Sessions button. Then click on the Multiplayer Session. If someone is running a game, the name will appear beneath the multiplayer session name. Click the name of the game to join. Or you can host your own multiplayer session and let others join. Right this minute I see a game called Orboy84's game running. I am using the steam version.

If you want instructions on downloading other MP sessions for other routes. Check out the Multiplayer forum for how to posts. I am far from being an expert in multiplayer use. Yes, the difference is only the speed of the downloads from the Download Station. Once you have the route and multiplayer session installed on your PC, gameplay speed is as good as your Internet connection allows.

So, the only problem is downloading speed.
Isn't enough that I bought the game, but I have to buy a ticket for 12 dollars to download contents.
It's really sucks, I'll let this game ... I disagree to pay extra and I'll not play this game anymore.

Thank you very much for all explains and for your time. Have a great time.
