Train Speed

I've created a route - checked that the tracks are layed correctly & switches are proper..............but when I send the engines (Dbl w/ 2 cars) on a trip, they will NOT go faster than 29mph. This applies to ALL engines, not just a particular pair. Yes, they are facing the same direction when put on the track. How can I fix this? THANX

Have you put speed signs along your track above 30 mph? Are the locos speed limited, some are.

Do you have signals added. Without signals, AI trains will only travel at half speed. regardless of the speed boards. If you want to run an unsignalled route, increase the loco mass by at least five times. The DHR is completely dark, no signals and the locos that run the sessions have a mass 10 times the prototype. That fixed the problem.

I'm completely unaware of what increasing the mass is. I'm not trying to get so involved in the construction, other than setting up some routes my Grandkid wants to run. I've dabbled in editing, setting triggers, changing properties for industries etc...(kinda) but still are confused with SOOoo much there is to know with Trainz ! I've searched for every tutorial I can find, but never seem to find what I really need.............I WANT MY MANUAL ! ! !

So, can you tell me how to change the 'mass' on an engine? (Is it the same for all engines?) I'd rather not get into messing up more than I have by adding signals........... I ENVY you guys that have figured all this stuff out !

By the way, you can send to jas1@neo.rr.com if you'd like.

hey,

to change the engine mass open up your content manager.
Click on the localy modified or favorite loco tab at the top
find the loco you want to edit
right click on that loco and go down to edit - edit in explorer
once the new window opens open up the config file
go down until you find mass on the left....to the right is the mass in kilograms
change that number to whatever you wish and safe the file
close the config file and engine file
right click on engine in content manager and go down to edit- commit.
you should then be good to go.

When you first open trainz have a look, you should see manual on the screen. Failing that did one not come with your disc set, they usually do if its from auran, just trains don't supply one i think.
What version of trainz have you got?
