Train sign post, M with T?

In your post I thought those RDC's looked familiar, but Iwas busy with other stuff, then it dawned on me.You must live in the land of the Johnson St. Bridge. Nice place, I miss going up there.

Hey; Nope, that is in Victoria, I live in Courtenay, about 350km north or Vic. Same scenery, just cheaper to live (but without all the amenities too).

the following information can be found in the canadian trackside guide 2014.

Main track begins Sign: black letters T over M symbol on reflective silver square. Located at the actual point where the main track begins.

Main Track Ends sign: black letters T over M symbol with black diagonal bar on reflective yellow square. Located at the actual point where the main track ends. Note: these signs need not be placed where the main track begins or ends a a switch.

Get down to the nearest station and when you see an engineer,... ask him. Hopefully he knows.

Hi; That does seem to be what the signs were, I just don't understand why they would mark the main track starting and ending when there is only a single track? Are they perhaps marking that the station is just down the line from where the yellow T/M is?

The sign I took pic of is a single track that was at the end of a Y and it goes for 30+ miles to another Y were it heads off south and north. Also the main line has ended and becomes a spar or siding that can go on for a bit before coming to a end or there planning on ripping up the line form that point the sign was post or there planning on extending it and haven't removed there sign. there a number of reasons for it this is a few.
The End of main line just means that's were the Main track ( So the Driver knows they are on a spar or not ) ends it don't mark the end of the track its self the track may go one and srive other siding a few miles away.

Well no one ever replied to me, just awesome. Anyway I walked the track again and I noticed that the sign is only in that single spot so obviously they are marking the main track merging into the station track, even though it is all just a single track. The line itself ends in Courtenay but it is still strange to me that they would have to tell the engineer that he is entering the station track when there is only the single line.
