TRAIN DERAILMENT!

GM Scratch & Dent Sale

Scratch and dent sale at GM

CHEVY TRUCK PLANT

This incident happened in the Oshawa CP Rail yard which ships out the GM vehicles. One of the car men who attaches and detaches the car haulers, accidentally unhooked a set of train cars without having the brakes applied. The Oshawa rail yard has a slight incline to it, so when the set of cars was unhooked from the engine it started to roll down the hill, it smashed through the stop block and then through the fence and continued into the parking lot where GM stores the new vehicles that come off the line. Over 300 vehicles were damaged

Gridlock at Cassandra/MG

An interesting situation of gridlock is presently playing out on the West & East Slope(s). Aparently two separate trains on EB Track1 are stalled with traction motor problems. The EB uphill train from Johnstown had smoke in the cab, and is stopped at Cassandra. They are dragging the dead lead unit from the uphill train at Cassandra to Cresson, and will apply more locos to the stalled uphill train.

They are sending more locos to couple ahead to assist a stalled downhill train at MG, to drag it down the mountain to Altoona.

Seems NS management is cost-cutting back on appling helpers to trains, traction motor, and coupler problems have been increasing over the mountain.

Meanwhile trains are starting to back up behind the 2 disabled trains. As Track 2 was torn out long ago, this leaves one less track to run around on.
=============================
Plans to rebuild the Juniata 8th St road bridge, will close off all traffic, and will detour ALL traffic miles away, over the 7th and 8th St bridges in downtown Altoona ... there will be several miles of gridlock for the entire rebuilding season.

Wreck of westbound 23M at Allegripus Curve

Saturday Allegripus Curve past MP 244 signal bridge, a largely inaccesable remote area with shear cliffs and steep hillside ... all mains were blocked as a stack train folded inward (as on a model RR trainset does). Apparently 4-5 stack cars, or combined sets of share wheeler stack cars, were involved.

2 ( a MOW gravel road) -3-4 main were still blocked sunday, and the only trains westward were being shifted over to track 1 at MG Tower (an eastbound track) and were being run up the "Slide" in several broken up sections, where they again were shifted back to wesbound tracks at MO Tower.

The only site to shoot photos from was on a busy highway, and police were enforcing a no parking/pulloff rule to sightseer's.

Allgripus Curve has been the site of several major dreailments over the years ... It's named after the locomotive "Allegripus" derailed and took a passenger train with it down the hillside in the late 1800's, killing the crew.

Decades ago, a mail train had US Mail strewn all over creation on a timber rattler/copperhead, tick & stickerbush infested hillside, that is so steep, that local deer in the area have shorter front legs than in the back ! Salvage workers had to go down there using rope harness's, and pick up each and every piece of US Mail.

Eddystone/Chester Pa Derailment

Last night at @11:30 PM, there was a very noisy CSX train ... then awful rumbling dragging sounds, and then an earthshaking BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM ... then all was totally silent.

I called 911 and told them that my desk, lamp, and the whole earth shook like an earthquake, and that there was a possible derailment.

I had never heard a derailment happening, and oftentimes wondered what it would sound like ... sitting at my PC playing Trainz ... I never want to hear the sound of a derailment EVER AGAIN ! It was a sickening, horrid, sound ! But only a very few freight cars were involved ... luckily none of them were hazardous materials.

Has anyone else ever actually heard a derailment happening in real life ?

Fortunately in Antarctica ... there are very few train derailments. :hehe:

56 dead people and going up. So sadly. It wasn't a HST, it was a regular train capable to change his gauge. There are 124 wounded people now, and the blood centr is collapsed due to the amount of people trying to help the survivors. The accident happened by a high speed derailment on a little radius curve, due to a late exit of the train from the station. Two cars are totally "grinded", and one more has reached6 meters high after crashing with a ledge. The officers expect to find more victims cause they've not completed the search in all the cars. Think about how have ended some of them. The train is/was a Talgo Serie 130, with variable gauge and with ASFA and ETCS security and signalling systems, this time running on an HSL, but fatally derailing. RIP for the dead and fight for the life for the survivors, lets see how this end, but what can I expect from this crap of country, IDK how hasn't happened this before. Search for FGV crash near 2006 and see what im talking about. Luckily, the two drivers of the train survived and have helped survivors to leave the train

And I'm pretty sure a lot of us have seen the two BNSF dashcam derailments. See, dashcams aren't exclusive to Russians who want to film meteors.
